Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I haven't done anything on my frame. I got another job on the weekends so I work 7 days a week. Not much time for anything. But I did score another GMC. I will be using it as my daily driver. Heres a build thread I started on it.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Well my original 4 core radiator has started to leak on it. I need to replace it. I want one just like it but aluminum. Any suggestions on a good company selling ones close to original? I've seen a few on eBay but am not too confident that they fit just right.

I just put on a Cold Case I found on a thread here (and is a sponsor here I believe). Uses elliptical tubes to flow more coolant with fewer tubes. Aluminum but with a stock look. Fell right in place. Would definitely buy again.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Well I got the radiator today. I wasn't too pleased with the packaging but I think it will be alright. There was some styrofoam broken and the box was taped up even though there were staples in it. The staples weren't holding it shut at all so someone taped it. Kinda looks like its a returned item so they just shipped it out again. Some of the fins have been touched also. We'll see.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

Yeah I'd call and asked for a discount but that's me...

Do you plan on painting it? I was planning on painting an aluminum radiator for my truck but I kinda like the way this one looks.

Yes. I painted the front of it. I didn't want to see and silver/aluminum from the front of the truck even though it would be just the sides showing on either side of the A/C stuff. I know what you mean by asking for a discount but I figured I would see if it works okay first. I'm not being picky on it because it has a lifetime warranty so I feel thats a good thing if I were to have a real problem they'd take care of it.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

I think when they (cold case) says direct replacement, they mean a 3 core radiator. My 4 core brackets are kinda big for their radiator. but I can live with it if it works. And I had a helper.

Re: Chucks SWB Fleetside

So I got the new radiator in and filled with coolant. I ran the motor with the a/c on and it cooled well. I didn't road test it as it was raining and Choncho don't like no rain. It's more that I don't like to clean it after the rain.lol But I'll do that soon enough.
