Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Man.... words cannot describe how SWEET that looks. I bet you had one of those "leaving the garage, but having to stop a few times to look again... and again" moments. Great work Drew!
I went to bed last night after seeing the packages in the floor. It was definitely worth the wait, haha.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
First you start the build way before you do your first post.
Then you go on a ski vacation,(with the family no less) help some kids fix there cars to drive. Then you go on missions to help build houses for the poor, water ski trip, and foot ball games (for the children). Then remodel the house (your own no less, not even a paying gig) and fix up a jeep for your son. Snow hits the ground and you go on another ski trip. Throw in fixing trucks to sell, spending time with other missionaries, going to car shows, (accepted with pics shown)and now you want those of us with no accomplishments of our own to wait around for you to post updates while you set up a hair cutting salon?! PRIORITIES man PRIORITIES, we thought that we meant something more to you than just family. We ..we.. Oh, I see you posted new pics, never mind.. Continue, as you were. Um, need more coffee. Looking good! |

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Here is what was involved with making special trim for 3 locations, one on passenger rear door, the other two on the fake door. Since Suburbans don't have upper door trim like pickups there are no parts available for my project. (Suburban upper trim is in a different location and shaped differently.) I had to buy 2 extra truck front door trims and section them about 6 inches and put them back together. Shown is the rear passenger door. The fake door side I sectioned and mated it directly to the cab corner piece. The fake door bottom trim also got sectioned and attached directly to the corner piece. The door bottom pieces also have one more gotcha. Suburbans were never Cheyenne Supers, so there is no wood grain version available. I bought a woodgrain tape insert kit and made my own Suburban door woodgrain trim set.
After all that, I was "having trouble" holding the pieces together. It seems my kenibly rod extension was interfering with my fetzer valve wrench. I had to call Mr. Chris Hill over to help explain to me that "it's all ball bearings these days". Thanks Chris for clearing THAT up! I think he really just wanted to have his picture on the blog.
