Degreaser and pressure washed bed frame rails, splash pans and inner fenders prior to stripping and painting. Also cleaned up the back half of the frame for the same. Will probably paint the inner fenders body color and POR 15 and top coat everything else. Also scored a nice, clean stock diff cover to replace the rusty chrome one currently installed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Just hung the driver door back in place after replacing the bottom and also the top hinge along with the bottom bushings and pin... and then pulled the passenger side and replaced the upper hinge and put new bushings and pin in the lower hinge and re-hung it. They will both be coming back off a few more times, but those new hinges and the new pin kits sure make em nice and stiff again... just like new.

More buffing/waxing. Removed clear glass, cleaned 45 years of crud off the rubber gasket and reinstalled w/factory "Soft Ray" glass. That Hugger Orange is sooooo pretty and just pops!! Wow.

I had to put a couple of spacers at the trans cover mount bolts to get the mount away from the lip of the cover... how was yours at that spot? I see you have an aluminum cover that offers a better flat surface..

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

The Lokar cable mount fit ok because it ended up under the B&M cable mount. The LED sending unit did not fit at all on the trans pan, so i just mounted it on the trans crossmember. I only used about 17 inches of cable from 5' that they send with the kit..

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Went to the garage where I have my Highlander stored for the Winter and stood looking at the exterior for 5 minutes. I then opened the door and looked at the interior for another 3 or 4 minutes. Can't wait for Spring...

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Just removing parts. I've come to the realization I can remove a TON of parts and still maintain start and stop. SSTIM suggestion and it finally clicked. Next up is the hood, for which I'll build a bench on wheels (need the room), then the grille, outer cowl, windows (gee can't wait). My mechanical experience is limited, and of course this is my first tear down, but I'm enjoying the heck out of this. Not doing the suspension by myself however, nor much of the steering. NEED SOME HELP.

Also came to the realization I "need" to lift the engine (only 40K on rebuild). Ha ha haaa.........Took long enough. Everything else is going to be removed, how hard can it possibly be to lift an engine with nothing on it for painting the frame? Exactly................Very expensive, let me tell you what I paid for NOS wiper blades and three sets of refills today. It's worth it.

Ordered a fuel psi regulator and fuel line and filter kit for the Edelbrock carb. Will try to remember to post pics when I get it installed. Gotta make a bracket for the regulator and figure out the plumbing first.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Took the original rear bumper to the local welder/fabricator today for a new look and function. Will post pics after. I replaced the original a few months ago with a newer "step-bumper" and really dont like it.
