I spent most of the afternoon removing the radiator in my daughters Jeep Wrangler. What a pain! And it was 85 in the garage so the fan didn't help much. Got a replacement coming from NAPA tomorrow, I just hope I remember where everything goes.

yes sir,it was a gorgeous day and you're correct, that's an anchor.it's a monster.a friend of mine who is in his late 70's was born there and he said that anchor was there before he was.his father took a team of horses down on the beach at low tide and drug it up to where it now.that house is only 100 yards from the beach.evidently, years ago it was common to find anchors like that.the fisherman used to complain that their nets would catch on them so they weren't long dragging them in whenever they found them.i've been trying for a while to buy that anchor but no luck...yet.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Bought this today to trade for a 56 Chevy big back window. My wife is in love with the thing I don't think I can trade it now. Out of all the different cars and trucks I've brought home over the last 15 years this is the only one she has wanted, I figured she'd want me to park it somewhere else so it didn't lower the property value.

I like this truck.

Did you decide to keep it or trade?

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I took my Dad to a car show on Sunday. It was hot but overcast so not too uncomfortable. I was the 653 vehicle in. He was all over all the 50's cars. It was fun. He was telling me what year they were as we approached each one. He used to paint cars in the 60's, so he was admiring some of the paint jobs we saw.
He was telling me that the used to wet sand with 400 grit and gasoline.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Well my Bug was delivered today. What a fiasco. These guys show up with a flatbed. No winch, no tilt bed, no nothing. Then they tell me that I need to back it off a REALLY long trailer because they don't know how to drive a stick shift.

I have terrible balance. I have Neuropathy. It jacks up my balance big time. No way am I going up on that trailer. I'll probably fall off.

So we decide to push it. But I live in the hills and we're pushing uphill. Thank god I didn't buy another Cadillac because that little VW was heavy. First hard days work I've done in a while.

But I got her home and she runs good. Just a few cosmetics to clean up. I still don't like the color but my wife does so you know how that goes. It stays green. It doesn't need the rocks as tire chalks, I'm just paranoid. Garage doors are expensive and that driveway is steeper than it looks.

Back to my barn move project a little. I got everything cut back and ready for the move on this side. I want to get back to this and get it done. I need to put beans across the bottom between posts and it will be ready to move

Got the drive shafts and skid plate out of my jeep project last night. Drained the T-case and transmission for removal this weekend most likely. Working my way to a flywheel/clutch replace.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

well yesterday i had my old wagon for a little run up the road to see if an old friend wanted to go with me to see all the old cars at the Masstown Market in Masstown,Nova Scotia with me and on the way back home i saw a couple old Airstream trailers on the side of road, one from New Hampshire and the other from Vermont.New Hampshire was missing a wheel and 4 folks there wondering what to do.i stopped to see if i could help.they had ruined a hub, some bearings, brake shoes, backing plate.they were in a mess.the man who owned it was on the phone looking for a big deck truck and somewhere to take it.i knew that wasn't to go well on a Friday and the long Labour Day weekend coming so i said drag that thing around the corner to my place and we'll get it fixed up.they were a little surprised but they did,we did a little inventory of what was messed up,what was missing and i sent them to a trailer shop an hour away for parts while i stayed and cut off what was left of bearings off the axle stub.i did take the wheel apart in front of the messed up one,to check it and give them those bearings so they'd have the part numbers and not come back with the wrong parts.once i got those bearings out and had a look, they were a mess too, even rusty.they hadn't failed but it was going to happen someday soon.i told them to get an extra set of bearings and i'd do that wheel too and suggested that it wouldn't hurt to do the other side but they thought they were fine??anyhow it wasn't how i planned to spend my day but it's all good, about 8:30 pm,they pulled out, ready to roll.the campground they were supposed to at for the night didn't happen but they're on the road again,2 weeks of their 3 week vacation here salvaged.beautiful trailers as well,1 a 1963 and the other a 1960.pretty cool.

There's more elbow grease into those campers than axle grease, looks like. Good for you for seeing their need and helping out like that. Their faith in humanity should be well restored for now. To be honest, it just helped mine

thank you sir.i had just run up the road to a friends place in the old 67 wagon and coming back home,i was going to do my regular loop through the Joggins Fossil Center parking lot to look at license plates and see who's around.there were these 2 old Airstreams, one missing a wheel so i stopped to see if i could help.they were a long way from home,Friday and Labour Day weekend.they were searching for someone to come tow it and a place to tow it to?nobody could do anything til later the next week so i said drag that mess around the corner to my place and we'll fix it.it took about 8 hours, they had to go a trailer place an hour away for parts but i got them up and running again.they were pretty happy and surprised that anybody would come help?i said it's what we do.they were a week into a 3 week vacation so thrilled to get back under way.they left with our contact info if they had anymore trouble and we said to let us know once they were home safe,no news yet so i guess no news is good news?

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I bought a Silouette Cameo cutting machine (kinda like a plotter, but cuts) because I wanted to make stickers, decals, maybe shirts? … Anyway I asked my grand niece (9) to draw me up a bunch of pics so I could try and get this thing figured out. Lots of YouTube, trial and error, and maybe some cuss words, I made these for her.

I used Photoshop and Silouette Studio for set up. Each sticker is die cut to a depth that leaves the backing on the sheet. I could have cut right through each one so they were separate stickers but I think she will like this more.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Busy weekend at the lake house. One of the Wave Runners had a problem starting a few weeks ago. Dr. Google advised that it was caused by a faulty starter solenoid / relay. It amazes me how they can cram a $ 110.00 bill into a 2" x 2'' x 2'' box. Not a hard fix...access is the biggest obstacle. Operation was a success. I have to say, after 10 years, this is the 1st repair on either of the two.

Then the 2020 Polaris Ranger was having problems starting. It wouldn't engage the starter until multiple attempts and searching for a sweet spot on the brake pedal. Well, you don't know what you don't know. Come to find out the brake / start sensor is actuated by brake fluid pressure. Dr. Google comes to the rescue once again. This pressure switch is ''upgraded'' from previous years...probably means cheaper. A quick fix but, all the forums threads I read suggested to replace it with the compatible older version. So, I did. This is a known issue BTW.

Thankfully, the local Polaris dealer had the part...another smooth $ 100.00 bill. Didn't even come in a box LOL! 10 minute fix and didn't have to bleed the brakes.

Outside a bit of weather and grandkids Labor Day Weekend soccer tournaments getting in the way of lake time, fun was had by all. Not to mention great eats for a dozen people.

I hope everyone has had a safe weekend.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

My wife and I got up early and went to a really good little cafe for breakfast. This place is really small and very busy. You have to get there early or it's tough to get a seat and the weather was still relatively cool at 7:30. So it was easy. We got a seat right away.

Then we went to the art show that we skipped before because of the heat. What a joke. There was no art there. Not what I'd call art. Just a bunch of useless swap meet type junk and it was already starting to get hot. It was 106 degrees here today so we retreated into the air conditioning. My wife did brave the heat and cook a beer can chicken on the BBQ. It was really good. I didn't help at all. (I'm useless) Too hot for me.

Wasn't by chance the Knotty Pine Cafe at the Oildale exit off 99 south was it?

To die for Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. When I can, I always time my trip through Bakersfield to stop for breakfast there.
