Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Even with the new to me 63 i can't wait to get the k10 up and moving. Weather permitting I should be able to get the front clip back on it. Still have minor plumbing on the engine/surrounding components to do along with that clearance issue on the oil pan but I can work around the front clip being on. Still waiting on the harness from my buddy. Had to order a few connectors so he should have it done soon. Once the bed is freed up I can remove it to do my fuel system/frame prep.

Motivational picture for myself. These days of heavy mud are long gone for this truck... well maybe in a controlled environment will I go again. NO MORE TRAILS haha.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Went to go install the front end tonight. I stepped back after mounting the radiator support and my OCD kicked in... cleaned a bunch of parts and hopefully tomorrow I'll have enough time to paint and mount everything back on the front end.

I forgot what the bed looked like.

Everything in the corner drying waiting for tomorrow.

Watch out for their tails. They'll get you. They like to whip them around. Friend of mine had one and that thing would slap you with it's tail. I've seen several nice cuts from them. Seems sort of funny though. You would think a creature like that would be fast. But they can move.

Truck looks good with frontend on. It's been awhile since I checked in but it is nice to see it together again!

Nice!! I am catching up! I got the engine dropped in last night to test to see if I need to order some fbody manifolds or not.

I havn't had any fitment issues from the dirty dingos... yet...

Nice! Any pictures of the clearance of the motor? I'm going to pull mine one last time. If I can't get the motor spaced up a little then I'll be notching the frame..

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Not much to report this weekend. Been sick ever since I got back from PR and Friday until today was the worst of it. Decided it was time for the K10 to get some fresh air so I pulled her out today. Man is she heavy trying to push her around. Got some good looks and nods from the neighbors too.

Driver side tire kept going flat over the course of a week. Sprayed some glass cleaner on it and you can see where the air is coming out of the side wall.. I'll deal with it the next weekend I'm in town.

Nice! How do you like it? I've been trying to save money up lately. Been investing in some new tools from snap on. Otherwise I've been going pretty frugal. I'm not far off.

Harness is complete I just need to pick it up sometime soon. Been working 50 hour weeks, running the line at civilian shooting competitions, drill, side jobs, etc.

My brother is coming back home soon so I know when he gets back hell pressure me into ordering more parts.

Just bought a Cornwell tool cart, snap on 3/8 air impact, matco swivels, snap on ratchets/breaker bars... etc. Got tired of breaking craftsman tools and I need the storage space. Next box I get will be a long box. Tired of tripping over tools while working on the truck.

Already do. And I love the Cornwell box. Saves me from having to walk all the way to my stationary box. I'm getting spoiled

I've got the same impact in camo. I love it and use it daily. Keep it oiled daily. The forward/reverse likes to bind up easily.

Glad to hear it's running well. Where did you send the computer off to have it tuned? What's going on with the steering?

Yeah my buddy told me to keep it oiled. It's a beast and sounds aggressive too!

Thanks! I can use any tool and get the job done. Investing in this bigger premium tool companies has got me spoiled. A lot less busted knuckles and it saves me time and money in the long run. There is no need to spend $400+ on a set of swivel impact sockets or $50 on a 23" 1/2 to 3/8 extension but it makes doing things like bellhousing bolts and getting to hard to reach areas a whole lot easier! I've still got a long way to go but I feel it's well worth it. A little bit at a time adds up after a few years.

I didn't send the pcm off to be tuned. I didn't have to. All the vats are enabled b/c I am using about 90% of the 2001 silverado donors wiring harness as well as steering column, instrument cluster, fuel pump assembly, et cetera. You should check out my build

Thats right. I've been of the boards for a while. Glad to see you've made lots of progress! I'll be starting back up on mine in the next couple of weeks. I'm in the home stretch.

Oh yeah. Found a 14 bolt FF axle off of a 91 3500 single wheel r truck. Thinking about making the conversion..... tonight I'm sanding down the hood for the blue truck so I can paint it this week. Going to be sweet when it's done.

Ready for some warmer weather to come by so I can go out and wrench on the truck. I'd like to get her going so I can turn my attention on the blue truck and the '63. Going to get those squared away before I dive into the turbo build.
