Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
we spent all day trying to start the truck, but were plagued with problems. First a bad starter, then a bad fuel pump. Monday we diagnose it. Wyatt did get the floors done. Monday we will diagnose.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
we spent all day today trying to start your Truck. No spark. I have 12v at every coil, and we have continuity through all 8 coil trigger wires. We did drill and tap the water pump for the fans thermostatic switch and discover a leak in the fuel tank, so we are replacing that

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
we spent the whole day checking continuity on the 80 circuits of the blue connector. Found a few mistakes too (I chalk it up to being JP's first time building a harness) tomorrow we go through red, and then I expect it’ll fire right up! We also installed the radiator for the last time.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
we checked continuity on all 80 circuits of the red plug today, still no spark. Have a lead on the coil pack grounds I’ll run down tomorrow
did get all the pedal holes welded though. And did some finish work on the firewall.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
We’re still scratching our heads as to why it won’t run (no spark). I had hoped that the ground to the coils would be the answer, but they had good continuity. We did put on your MAF and air filter today. Clearances are tight but there. Wyatt did some smoothing on your firewall. And we got the new gas tank physically in.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
Still doesn’t run... Tearing my hair out at this point! Here’s the email I just sent Brendan (friend of mine and the owner of LT1swap.com)
"I bought a $100 scan tool, no idea how to make it show RPM. hot power to the coils, and both the battery and ignition pins on the PCM. ohm'd all the wires on the crank sensor. 12V to it. ohm'd the coil grounds and all the individual ignition wires, as well as the reference wire to each coil. Even went so far as to replace the crank sensor just in case. Still no spark!” ” We wired the OBD2 port, hooked up a scan tool and got no engine codes. then out of desperation we tore into the Side of the motor and replaced the crank position sensor.

Here’s a picture of that drivers toe board. The firewall all finished up, notice the removable panel in the center for a firewall pass through.

nope. I had LT1swap cut the PCM, just had Brendan do a basic Performance tune.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
so my code reader given a PO336 code which says the crank position sensor must be diagnosed. We tried switching it out. There are only 3 wires. The lt blue has 12v key on, the yellow/blk has continuity with ground key on, and the reference Wire has ~5v key on. The adapters from EV6 to Delphi injectors got here yesterday, so we decided to rip out the modified one and install a pre-made with the adapters.

block grounds connected well?
adjustable sensor mount? need it closer? turn the motor slowly and you should be able to see it go open on a multi meter when the teeth pass by |

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
The new harness doesn’t seem to have any PRND wiring so we are in the middle of adding 5 circuits to the harness. Needles to say, but I won’t be buying from them again! Tomorrow we hope to get the cab on for the last time.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
We finished up the fuel system and bolted everything down. we also finished the PRND circuits and re-covered the harness. Put the harness through the firewall pass through, and mounted the cab.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
We put them the cab back on for the final time. Then we moved the bottom of the column left, drilled and bolted it. We did have to clearance the firewall, but not to worry, we’ll weld it up.
