It wouldn't be project if we did everything understood, but truthfully since you have a guy that can weld....heck, you can weld...this could be the perfect time to finish it up!!!

Sounds like a good plan. Hope it works out money wise so you can get them both.

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Well, got pics on my comp but need to download them...tried the member gallery and having issues pulling them up after downloading them...and photobucket's not working right now....

I used the twisted wire cup on my grinder to clean up the floor pans. I am going to seam seal it tomorrow if I get time and then once that sets I will primer and paint it with undercoating...

...I got in some parts from CPP and once again have some issues....got a manual tilt column since I'm a big guy and a tilt is nice with the big wheel...and the column in there was a three on the tree with the shifter removed since it's now floor shift...won it on ebay for a really good deal IMHO- 275 shipped but it didn't come with the wiring adapter it was supposed to and has a chip in the powdercoat and scratches (inside the nice packaging so it was like that when they shipped it) I got a nice used power steering shaft and rag joint coming I will paint up and then will install after paint. Also got my power steering pump, power steering gearbox (New one) and power brake booster with the brackets on it dug out of my storage containers.

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Finally got the pics to work....where it sits now...

big ugly mirror holes welded up and primered

rocker finish ground and primered

wire wheeled passenger floor....still have to get underneath and raise up the floor a bit and I'll be grinding down the welds a bit also...

shifter hole closed up slightly...won't be seen now when shift boot is installed...

Driver's floor wire wheeled

Driver's rocker welded in and primered

He fabricated this piece custom and I think it came out NICELY

Radio removed....nice uncut dash. Going with radio delete...also removed the crumbled dash pad...

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Here's the rally wheels I might be using as well as some of the remaining patch panels and some very nice door hinges...

Here's using my hood as storage (bucket seat brackets I was painting)

Here's the front view of the REALLY nice 70 grille...too bad the inner is broken in the bottom middle as it is nice otherwise in its' original color. Note that the lines go all the way to the end of the center bar into the headlight bezel area...the way they came from the factory...all repro's and NOS available have that dark black rectangle on either end instead...

BONUS-truck came with good T3 Headlights (I'll remove and sell later and put some nice regular halogens or possibly some newer style assemblies with HID's that I've had for a while but never installed....)

Here's the CPP tilt....

looks really nice when first unwrapping...

but...CHIP in the powdercoat

and scratches...

and I knew it came with the wrong style connector but it was supposed to come with a converter in the box to our style but it didn't...

Hope that works out. I ended up having to do a credit card charge back because pay pal couldn't get my money back from a seller who never sent the items he was paid for. So now pay pal thinks I owe them money, yea right.

On individual sellers it's not as guaranteed, but with a big ebayer like cpp, they don't want issues so they seem to take care of issues through there fairly quickly....at least that was my experience in the past...had an issue with a steering wheel they took care of fast but when it came to an order I placed directly with them they took a couple months to get the part I needed and only after around 15 phone calls....

That is definitely one big benefit of dealing with a larger company who can't just change their name & bank account and move on to the next victim when they get too much bad feedback.

Hope it doesn't take 15 phone calls to get this issue taken care of.

thanks. and it's not the end of the world on the tilt, but I'm definitely not paying good money for something that's damaged when it arrives...(and obviously was damaged before it left their warehouse) because the way it was packaged there was no possible way it was chipped or scratched inside that package...the outer box was perfect, inner box was perfect, main padding was intact, and there was a soft inner packaging around it that was sealed I had to cut open.

Yea, they can't even get away with calling that shelf wear. More like it fell from the shelf. On the plus side, you might have other things to work on untill another one arrives.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are T3 headlights? Is that a special type of sealed beam bulb?

They're just an older style sealed beam that's not available for sale any more (although some companies are making reproductions of them but I think they're like 200 for a pair if I remember correctly?) it says T3 in the glass as pictured. There may be more to the story but that's all I know

Nope...not gonna get away with "shelf wear" I do have plenty to work on...and not enough time. Column won't go in until after the engine is painted, and engine bay and interior are painted too...so it'll be a while still...
