That's an awesome 4Runner! And way to go for keeping it going for so long. I currently have a TRD Pro Tacoma but I'm thinking about getting a 4Runner instead.

Not a ton of progress to post on, been having some terrible sinus infection and seem to have developed some really bad tennis elbow, keeping me from lifting heavy stuff frequently. I have done some work on the doors, weld grinding and such, so I will post some more sometime soon hopefully.

Inner door patch is about good.. got it pretty smooth and Im pretty happy with it, inner door brace/bracket for the speaker is in and have the speaker mocked up in place, and a few pics of the door installed, trying to find a good spot for a tweeter to go with my 6x9 components.

Wow, I like the mockup! That's always motivational to step back and see. You're continuing to do some really nice metal work. This is going to be one sweet truck when you're done. I may have missed it along the way, but what's your plan for wheels/tires?

On the tennis elbow, that sucks! I somehow ended up with that a few years ago while working on my last project. Took a solid 2 years before my arm didn't hurt anymore. Even still, when I really get to cranking on wrenches it will get sore.

At this time, Im running a set of 6 lug 4 nub wheels (disc brake 4WD 1/2 ton) and the stock 67 caps, but I do have a set of 69-72 caps, and a set of the 67/68 full wheel covers. My long (and I mean long) term goal is a set of Delmo specials to look like the 67/68 full cover wheel covers. As far as tires, with the stockers, I will probably run some sort of retro tread from Coker or Diamondback.

This tennis elbow stuff sucks! I normally just push through the pains but its like my arm just shuts down. Which is more annoying more than it is painful

I'm glad your wild hair motivation was a success! If you left the steering column, dash pad and HVAC system installed when you did it I bet that lonely 4x4 was creakin' pretty good!. Mine is made of a treated 6x6 now since the first one I made from a couple of 2x4's screwed together was too sketchy for me to use it more than once. I know what you mean about scary seeing all that hard work dangling from an engine hoist. It's a solid 9.5 pucker factor every time nearly every time I do that.

I was telling my coworker today that I woke up Sunday with no intention of putting the cab on the chassis, it was kind of like "oh well Ive got the hoist, wood and a couple hours lets just get it done" but thats typically how I work, no plan just jump in and figure it out. For sure huge pucker level. Even more so since my engine hoist is rather.... junky... lol

Dashes Direct really makes a slick product. This dash pad is super accurate for mounting, and really feels correct as stock (I imagine) would back in 67. Soft, flexible, and STRAIGHT ! The other aftermarket ones I see most of the time are twisted or wavy, and this one is not!

Got a bit wild over the weekend and said "how hard could it really be to grab the old engine hoist and a 4x4 section of wood and throw this cab back on the chassis?" Well, evidently not too hard! Kind of scary suspending your years of hard work over a frame that had equal amounts of hard work with the chance that Lowes 4x4 breaks but it all ended up where it needed to be! And for a shotgun install it actually lines up real well all around. VERY happy!

I have had both elbows repaired from tennis elbow... Got a single cortisone shot, once. Worked great for 4 months and then wore off so I went ahead and scheduled the surgery. Not terrible, and I am super glad I had them fixed!
Kyle I am in Yorktown.... Any chance I might be able to swing by and check out your truck sometime?

Very nice! Is this a full truck harness including all wiring front to rear? It will be great to have the reassurance of all new wiring. At this point in my build, I've only just cleaned up the stock wiring and stripped out anything I don't need anymore. I've noticed and been surprised by how brittle and oxidized some of the wires are. I guess 50 years will do that!

Yes, full harness front to rear. I've used their products before, and they're great. It has all kinds of opportunity for add ons. Right now Im just adding electric fans and the Aeromotive fuel pump for the Boyd tank. But it has a connector to wire in power windows, locks, fans, and fuel pump all in one connector. You just wire up the female end and plug it in. All the wiring is extra long front and rear to give routing options. Im doing mine as hidden as possible, so the extra length is great.

I will get some pics of the wiring up once Im done sorting out all my routing, mixing an American Autowire harness, Vintage Air harness, Holley Sniper harness and a dual electric fan harness is tough to get hidden! But heres some pics of the booster in its final place, all mated up to the lines. Minor bending and twisting needed. I used strip caulk from Lowes to seal off the firewall. That much closer to driving !!

Seems as though Ive got a few irons in the fire. What a mess! Waiting on parts from the powder coater so I can get the compressor mocked up, to order new pulleys, so I can mount the core support, to mock up the lines, so I can do the rest of the a/c install

Mocking up my heater delete 'AC box'. It hurt to cut them holes in the front but it will be worth it! Running wires through the side and out into the upper fender. Hopefully this actually ends up looking good!
*edit: forgot to add that I put the supplied Vintage Air fusible link on a recessed bracket on one of the old pass through holes on the firewall, to keep it out of sight

Radio installed as well. It fits well, but I need to figure some stuff out with the depth the switches on the side sit at. The knobs seem a bit loose. Worried they'll come off with some larger bumps, so I need to see what to do there.

That flush mount brake booster is awesome. I need to do that to mine. My truck was originally non-power 4 drums, and the pedal travel was hugee. My shins got sore lifting my foot so far up driving. So I'm hoping adjusting the travel will make it lower with new power front discs.

I like that idea on how to paint the core support I just started cleaning up mine and was wondering how I was going to paint it, so this is definitely an option. I like the smoothed bumps on top. That's one of those things that most people would never notice, but if you know you know and appreciate the attention to detail.
