Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
Lookin great! On the glass issue, I've always wondered about similar but shorter glass from another model like a 57 car or a 62 vette. Might be easier to buy one and chop the top to fit? I just didn't have the guts to try on mine when I was there...

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
Drivea55, dash is looking good.
do yourself a favor and reach under your dash and cut out all the support for the ashtray. I didn't and it seams like it was in the way of everything I did under my dash. Wiring, ac, stereo, wipers, wiring and did I mention wiring would have been easier with that out of the way.

But i dont have enough clearance with the radiator. Plus i like it just the way it is. Glass is done, and as planned we have some adjusting to do to get it just right. More pics coming in a few days when they get done. Brian Posted via Mobile Device

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
So as some of you know, chopping a tf is not a easy task. We chopped for hieght and then had the glass guy cut the ws so we have a better template.
Question is... #1 should i post here in my build Or #2 start a new thread On how to chop a tf truck.??? The sectioning will begin shortly and i want to doc it for future enthusiasts. What do you guys think is better? Brian Posted via Mobile Device

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
We spent a many hours attempting to make the windshield frame right etc... sectioning and trimming and fitting etc...
gave up, I just can't get it right. option #2 would be to have a windshield made = $3000 = I don't think so... bowing out on the chopped top Next we are going to cut the roof off a donor 55 we found locally and gonna fit it back on stock height. 1st major set back, but since this is my first ground up build I can't be too dissapointed. Everything is a major learning experience. All that we are really out is time, and time vs $ is ok to me. just thought I would put an update on the truck on here. More pics coming once this next adventure is repaired. peace

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
since you like the chop and your doors are chopped already
take the windshield you chopped and make a frame to fit it. then weld it in your truck, it's not the easiest choice but it will work. this is how it would have been done by a shop you have to tilt the whole frame back into the cowl i do know it can be a beyotch to chop any curved glass.

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
Here we go...
some pics on getting her back to where she needs to be... We were very careful on how to mate the new roof back on as to keep everything where it should be. Man these cabs were different cab to cab... was interesting to see how different they are. but here we go with pics!!!

Re: J.M. Laflamme Build
I spray bombed the dash and framework so the glass can go in.
no big deal, just hoping that I did everything correctly this time for when the glass gets here tomorrow. Holding breath, and until then.
