Re: 67 C-10 project.
well, it's slowed down a little in the last week. the weather turned cold again and i've been tired! But! tonight i wanted to try welding a hole shut...there are three holes in the top edges on my doors from mirrors from po's. so i ground them clean, got a nice clean ground sopt, and with a little pair of vice-grips, clamped a penny to the back of the hole and gave it a whirl! it took me a few tries to find a good voltage, wire speed setting, but i got er done! not perfect, but pretty happy for my first time! the after shots!

Re: 67 C-10 project.
tonight i removed the back window...it was plexiglass. removed the rear view mirror, and the dome light, and the coat hooks. got the choke knob off but the wiper and light knob are not budging! dang things! need to still get the trim on the back of the cab off. tomorrow i pick up a 79 12 bolt rear end. found a friend with a trailer so i can get the cab to the sandblaster soon i hope.

Re: 67 C-10 project.
great progress! the lights knob comes off if you push a tab down on it and then pull out the knob and the wiper knob comes off by way of a screw

Re: 67 C-10 project.
i haven't really researched it yet, but i wonder how hard it going to be to get this rear end on my truck. it's a 79. one thing i wondered is if i could just swap axels? anyone know if they are swappable with my 67? both are 12 bolt...but that's all i know right now.

Re: 67 C-10 project.
the cab wasn't nearly as heavy as i thought it would be, my son and I could pick it up. Still, the shop crane was once again very handy! today i broke down and bought a second engine stand. i bought a little nicer one this time to compare it against my harbor freight one i bought last time. this one actually rolls and steers! the casters are a little nicer i guess! anyways, got the 327 up off the floor now...

Re: 67 C-10 project.
oh i hear ya slick copper...mine was running..i drove it home...but the brakes were really bad. one thing led to another and here i am. even though it's a hundred pices, i feel like it's better off than it was when it was one piece! LOL . a friend of mine from work is going to bring me a sandblaster to try out this weekend. i was thinking of buying one from eastwoods, but he said to try his. he said it didn't work very well, used a ton of sand and made a huge mess. better off taking it to a professional he says....i'll try it out and see for myself i spose...
thanks Rick and Spike!

Re: 67 C-10 project.
well, i spend an hour or so each night working on getting the paint off of the cab. The white paint on top is harder than a rock! it's like trying to grind the shell off a turtle! LOL! making progress a square inch at a time!

Ahh Rick, i'm sorry to tell you that i got the knob off the shaft finally....but....the PO had epoxy'd the dang thing on. So it came off in three pieces! I had to bury it in the backyard. :-(
