Hey have you thought about a rolled pan instead of a bumper? could locate the receiver hitch behind the plate if you wanted to tow something. and I like the rake.... Not so much the wheels, I bet the sparks would fly when you stop....Hey all kidding aside. think you will have it at good guys this November? I know what you talking about the headers. just those few bolts, pain in the back side. is that a 67 or 68?? 68 has to go thru the smog test. Its time to take mine thru this month.

I have thought about a roll pan but not a huge fan. ok on a slammed truck, but not quite right for Homer.
I am planning to have it ready for Goodguys. Might take it on Friday, Chevelle on Saturday, probably pass on sunday.
Homer is a 68 but no smog with Classis insurance.
Still not sure on the seat, so you get first dibbs.

Well, yes and no. in that I mean this;
I had hung the doors and front sheet metal to make sure I could align the doors etc. after chopping the top off & on.
Well I had the doors close enough I knew "I could get there from here". Well, my bodyman came out last Sunday and said, "they're close, but let's get em closer", so off came the bumper, front fenders, and we started massaging the door openings. Before he left they fit the hole much better.
we will be starting on the final bodywork this weekend. I will take some pics and post em up as time allows.

Well ole Homer moved a little forward this weekend with the help of my bodyman friend Corey. Young man has some serious skills in the body and paint work field.
My goal was to get the inside of the roof that I grafted onto Homer the same color as the rest of the inside of the cab. I didn't want to restore the entire enterior at the time, only paint what is necessary to make the new roof and cab back match.
took a bit of time to get the A pillars 100% straight and all lines good but it came out awesome.

I'm going to need to go back and rethink some things.
If I use the C&C diff I'll need to cut up my bed floor...

Thanks. Yep he is starting to take shape with "a little help from my friends".
My bodyman is a young dude but knows how to get em straight. He worked at a HIGH END street rod shop for about a decade so he knows how.
I don't think he would like to travel much. No car and all.

Damn man ,Homer is looking good .Im ashamed to say my old 1 ton is still sitting in the same spot at the bodyshop out back. Im currently trying to get my wife's 81 Trans Am back on the road but Old Ton will not be forgotten for long .Keep the pics coming ,love your progress .

Neither. I have taken a step side bed and widened it 6 inches so it covers the dual wheels with an inch to spare on each side.

During the build I have posted pics of my Chevivrolet. Yep, tailgate is 6 inches wider too.

My bodyman/painter come over yesterday and masked off the interior we painted last weekend. Once it was all protected we shot white on the roof down past where we will change to body color.

Few more pics taken this morning once the unmasking was done. Interior color pops so much against the white I have decided to paint the body color the same tan color as the factory did. Homer is going to be tan with a white top. I was leaning towards the lighter olive green with a white top, but <<

we set the bed in place to see where the color break would occur. gonna split the color at the line just above the bed. I think???

I like the tan, plus i think it would look funny with a tan interior and olive green exterior. I wish i could find a body man to come work on my truck in my yard, no paint prison that way.
