It had a built 283 with dual quads, headers and a Muncie m22 rock crusher. Along with a 4:11 posi rear. It was a demon off the line and almost tached out at the end of the quarter mile. I came from a small town that had nothing much better to do than street race. Good years!

Re: pdx-sanity66

First thing I did today was go shopping. Turned out to be very rewarding. I went down to Eagle Creek, a small community about a 25 min drive south of me.
I met a real friendly car guy down there that had assorted projects around his shop. Mostly VW buses, but some other interesting projects as well. I bought a very nice fleetside tailgate from him and while we were talking trucks and parts I mentioned needing a custom option bench seat bottom. Yeah, that's right, after all my looking here and there and asking here on the forum, he had one in great shape and NO broken springs. Happy day for me I see a set of bucket seats in the near future.

I also blasted my radiation support last weekend and sprayed a little rust inhibitor in the places most susceptible to rust. I'll spray some epoxy on it tomorrow if the rain holds off.

Thanks. I'd like to take credit for it but I got the idea here on the board but I never did see the finished product. After doing the one fab up of the standard seat I new it would work out much better with the custom seat. No springs to cut. Having done that one, though, gives me the vision to improve these.

If you decide to get up this way sometime let me know and we can meet up and talk trucks. If I'm not working I'm usually out in the garage.

Well I cannot wait to see how this comes out either !!
If all goes according to plan, I hope to be in your neck of the woods with the 66 behind the Tow Truck sometime in the late June to mid July time frame.

Would sure like to see your build in person !!

Re: pdx-sanity66

I decided to start on the bucket seats today. I know it's a long way off before I will actually need them and get them covered. It will be a lot easier to store a couple of bucket seats than a stack of bench seat parts. I got the first seat bottom measured and cut. I discovered that the two bucket seat halves would new fit in the bead blaster so what started as "I'll just clean up around where I'm going to weld" into close to a completed clean. I'm hoping to get an earlier start and get this part tacked together and the seat back measured and cut.

Nice job on the build, I went through all 11 pages again. I like the undercoating you did so I ordered some off of ebay and did my silverado bed 2 weeks ago. Buckets seat ideal is cool, nice progress, nice build.

Not an early riser. I just stay up late. Graveyard worker so I try to keep close to my same schedule on my days off.

Thanks for looking in. My progress is slow but steady. I heard a lot of good things about the undercoating so I decided to give it a try. I'm thinking of doing the bed on my Tundra, also.

On another note. I'm getting ready to pull the plug and order my new engine.
I've looked at GM performance, Blueprint, and a couple of others. Of course I'm looking for the most bang for my buck. It will be a 350 with vortec heads or a 383 stoker with vortec heads. At least that's my thinking right now. I'd like to get some input and opinions on what you guys have or prefer to help me with the final pick.

Re: pdx-sanity66

Driver's seat is done. '66 chev factory bucket seat......well, if they had offered bucket seats this might be it. I finished welding the bottom today and then cut, fitted and welded the back. It was a little more complicated fitting up the springs. Everything went real smooth on the modification. You can see from the pics that I welded a little more support where I joined the 2 halves together on the seat and the back. I found some SS tubing to slip over some of the small wire supports after welding them together. The passenger seat should go quick since I now have all the measurements and it's just a matter of cut and paste. I plan on spraying it with some Eastwood rust inhibitor tomorrow and get started on the passenger side.
I am also modifying the seat mounts on the passenger seat so that the adjuster will be set up on the proper side. Yup, both seat will adjust. I'll post some pics of that as I progress.

Someone may have noticed my request for opinions on my engine choice. I value your knowledge and would really like some input.

Seat looks totally factory. Way to go.

On what motor to choose. I can't really say much, I've rebuilt a few.
Wanted to buy one of those fancy Summit or Edelbrock motors but could never afford one at the time.
Now all I think about are those LS motors that everyone else is using.
geesh, Im a lot a help.

Seats look great Man

I also don't know what to recommend for a motor.
But I have to say those buckets are going to be so cool.
Independent adjustments, and the ability to swing the back forward. How neat.
Perhaps I missed it... - what's your plans for a center console?

Thanks, man. I'm trying to stay away from all the changes needed for an LS motor. I'm trying to keep it simple and old school somewhat since that is what I know. This is probably my last project so I'm going with new motor and trans and letting somebody else to the building for me. I've actually got it narrowed down to 2 or 3 choices, I just wanted to get a feel for what others think.

Thanks. I was just thinking about a center console today and I have to wait till the seats are set in and I see just how much room I have, but I'm thinking of building something to tie in with the stock look and maybe a little art deco thrown in, similar to the horn button I'm going to use.
