I remember the Texas Highway Dept. used them for their engineers. The last one I saw was about a 1950.

Speaking of Coupe Pickups brings to mind the Australian Utes. Here's one that is truck-based,which shows it's just the style they preferred.

First El Caminos or Escalades. I'm curious what was done on the inside. Just open or sealed off some way? I like how they give you a little old stake pocket on each side.

I love the historic value of that "motor stage". I look at that as a cool antique,then think of it's great importance as a daily service so valuable to so many in the early days of that region.

I have a few more pictures taken in front of the mural of the Hastie Bus.This mural is # 9 of 22 murals of history of the desert in 29 Palms.We drove the bus in the Pioneer Days parade and had a lot of fans.The last time the bus was in the parade was 1956.

Griffith is still operating today selling fuel oil. Not sure about those canisters. I believe I've seen them on trucks before.Possibly extinguishers,or maybe some sort of shock absorber? Totally guessing here. More likely they're extinguishers.

Researched a little on my pic of the early GMC moving van above, and those canisters on the front are possibly a kerosene road flare dispenser. They smoke like mad during the day and flare at night, pretty neat I think.

Funny, I was looking the other night and got interested reading a for sale ad on one of these. I don't recall being introduced to them before. Of course that read to searching and reading and looking.. kinda badass if I do say so myself. I like em.
