Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
I really like the CC, been looking for something along those lines, but have yet to see anything that solid up my way. On the other hand I already have plenty project trucks, and the GFs car, so......

For the continuation of the '65 look at this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post7812257 Now, on the other subjects, the crew cab is gone, the shop got completed and I worked on a few project in there, but ultimately life got thrown a curve, I ended up selling that house and getting a divorce. I am just now getting back to having a shop, I have to rent one at this point. For the '65, the LS that we put in it covered by the linked thread above, came out and went to my son, Owen. It was swapped into his '84 C10 in the Henry thread. So now, the '65 just sits again...

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Post #251 above was the last post I made on this thread when I was still married and had a shop at home.
Well its been long enough on this project since I worked on it. If you did not follow along a few years ago as I tried to get it road worthy for LST in Conroe Feb. 2016, below is the link for that attempt: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post7812257 Did not make the 2016 show at all, but I did end up getting it running enough to put on a trailer and attend C10's in the Park 2017 with a old buddy from Tyler. This past summer, I pulled the LS and stuck in in Henry, Owen's '84 C10. We took it to C10's in the Park 2019. We are currently redoing the interior on it and getting it ready for the summer and looking to take it to C10's in the Park 2020. Since pulling the LS to swap into Owen's truck, my '65 has just sat there. So, back in January I bought 3 passes to C10's in the Park 2020 and told both my boys we are taking 3 trucks this year, it they can get theirs running and ready, I will get mine running and ready to go... Stay tuned for updates as things move along. I might show snips in this thread of Korbin's new project, "Trouble" a '73 GMC step side and the updates to "Henry", Owen's '84 Chevy C10.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
I am currently working on cutting down/reworking a 2005 Tahoe harness to use in my truck with a 6.0 LS and 4L80e trans. I'll get some pictures tonight of that...
Here are some pictures of Trouble, the crack around the steering box was repaired by a previous owner, but not to our standards. This is the first thing we are going to address.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
First update on my truck for this round of rebuild...
2005 Tahoe harness being reworked for stand alone. Old loom and tape tripped off and most of the wires I don't need pulled out. This will be a DBW set up this time around. I'll need to convert this harness to a 4L80e, but that's not a big deal. I have a few more wires to label and cut out, then onto making my fuse/relay block.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Well, while waiting for a few parts for the LS harness rework, I decided that the headlight harness needed rework as I was having issues with the relay harness I purchased years ago for another project was giving me problems.
Got the grille out and laid on the table to inspect the harness on it now. One of the relay connectors got hot and is distorted, probably part of my problems. I have new connectors for the bulbs and new 14ga wiring in close to factory colors for the lights, and some new wire for the relays along with braided loom to make it look good. I started the layout of the new plugs, will be stripping out the supplied wire pigtails and going with my GXL 14ga wire I purchased. I will start on the passenger side and work toward the driver side to keep it neat and somewhat OE looking. Here is where I stopped last night:

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Seems like I am playing the waiting game on parts here lately. I got in my hood parking light/turn signal harness from Brothers last week. Looks pretty good. They used plastic snap in bulb sockets where as the factory had metal ones. Still should work nice. Installed it this weekend fits good. Now I just need to find the box that the light buckets/lenses/bezels are in and get those installed with new bulbs.
Also, took in a little side job to cut down a stock harness to make stand alone for a local guy doing a LS Swap into his 1980 C10. Got it all cut down and labeled for the fuse/relay block and external connections. Should have it done this week.

Finished up the rework of the harness for the side job. I now have to change out the injector connectors as he changed injectors on his project.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Well last week was my first of two furlough weeks I have to take this summer. All of our employees here have to take two weeks of furlough to help reduce our operating costs. Better then not having a job at all...
So, last week I worked on a number of things around the house and on trucks. Major job was working on the bathroom remodel. My daughter picked out the color and I finished up the drywall work and got some paint on the walls. Once that was done, I put in the flooring tiles and then set in the vanity and the toilet. It is tight between the toilet and the vanity, but it will work. All that I need to do now is finish out the trim and get the plumbing hooked up. Should have it done and functional this weekend. Other work was on Owen's Henry getting the cluster converted over to an electronic speedo and restored/cleaned up the bezel and gauges. The cluster pics in in Henry's thread. Helped Korbin out on his Trouble (his new C10 project), and got some cleaning/organizing done at the shop looking for parts for my '65 C10. Here are some pics of the bathroom remodel. They are not very good pics, but it all I got...

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Well this past Friday was a work holiday for me, so I spent most of the day getting the bathroom functional. Still need to do some trim and a couple other things, but we can now use the shower, the toilet and the sink!
So, Saturday I worked on cleaning up the 6.0 for my truck. Got the block cleaned for paint and the decks cleaned for new head gaskets. Got some etching primer shot on it and painted it with a Gloss Smoke Gray. I like the look, something different and a little industrial looking. Next is cleaning the oil pan to paint it the same color and then get the heads on. Maybe this week I can spend a little time each evening to get that done.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Got a bit more work done on my engine getting it ready to put in my '65. Took all the external parts to get cleaned at the local machine shop in their vat to get all the gunk off. Most of the parts looked great, but the outside of the oil pan still looked terrible (first pic). So I scrubbed at it more with brake clean and that did not help. So I took it to work and blasted it in the blast cabinet to make it looks better, did a little sanding on some bad casting spots and painted it (second pic). Once I found all the nuts and bolts I needed, I reinstalled it on the engine along with the windage tray and pick up tube that I had cleaned at the machine shop (third pic). Moving right along. Tonight I plan to installed the heads and get a few other parts painted to finish getting it together.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Last week was my second furlough week. I spent the time at the farm with my parents and helped them out for the week, actually there for 9 days.
Dad and I worked on pipe fence around the courtyard between the house and the barn. Started the repair of the rotten corner post of the barn also. It was hot and dry, so I changed clothes about 2 or 3 times a day because they were drenched with sweat. Very pleased with the work we did and the area looks so much better. Dad texted me last night and he had done a little more work yesterday. I guess me being down there and getting a ton accomplished helped motivate him to do what he could without my help. Removed a tree, tons of weeds along the fences, set 6 posts, added top rail and bottom rail, and set a pier foundation for the new corner post for the 91 year old barn. Looking at the barn, we have all 4 corners to do and at least 2 posts on the south wall. We only worked on the southeast corner since it was completely rotten and not even supporting the barn... Here is the first section we worked on. Had to set one post at the water trough, add the top rail, cut off the horizontal rails above the trough and add new wire panel. The one wood post left where the rails use to be, has been removed too, but no picture after we did that.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Next section was to the right of that section. Needed top rails, one post set and bottom rail. No good pictures of that section.
This set is the fence that runs perpendicular to the first one, goes back to the barn and to the other end of the pen. We concentrated on the barn side, set 5 posts and set up for 2 new 16' wide gates that we had to order, so those did not get installed. Had to remove a tone of old wood fence, weeds, one tree and general clean up. The tractor is sitting where one of the 16' gates will be in that picture. The last picture is at the gate post looking away from the barn.

Lastly we worked on the corner of the barn. The wood fence in this picture is from the 16' gate back toward the barn. This will be replaced with pipe fence next time I head down to the farm. the post at the end next to me and the barn is completely rotten at the ground...
