Never seen a D52 caliper with an E brake, the Caddys are D154 calipers unless you know of some?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The JB/JD7 calipers were an option on the C20 and K20's. Year wise, I do know they were available in the mid to late 80's, but I do not know for sure on just other years they were available.

The '76-'78 Eldorado calipers technically are not a D52 designation, but they are the same physical size and shape, and with the same 7.062" center to center measurement on the mounting bolts, as the D52 calipers. The D154 calipers were used from '79 and up and are smaller, with a shorter mounting bolt dimension.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes, I figured out that it's a GVW thing, there's even a JB8 larger piston version for heavier trucks. I had never heard of this since I'm a 1/2 ton guy myself. Thanks for the info.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes those will work just fine, as long as your calipers have 7/16"-20 threads for the banjo bolt. If not you will need the hoses with the M10 banjo bolts.

These here

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I just double checked those part numbers, and those are correct. The number 18-4035 should be the right side, and the 18-4036 is the left side. I don't know what that 3" and 2-3/4" measurement is, but it sounds to me like someone misboxed one of those calipers. I would take it back and get another one. You do not want to put two left side calipers on there. You'll never get it bled.

The other caliper (think it was the 18-4036) has mounting points of approximately 2 and 3/4" inches and will not fit. Purchased the calipers at O'Rielly's.

Should I go back and purchase another D52 18-4035 since I know it fits?

Thanks in advance.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I'm guessing that the caliper on the right is for a 1" thick rotor.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

If you use that new caliper on the right side, the bleeder will be on the bottom, and you will never get all the air out of that caliper, unless you rig up some sort of way to do it when removed from the caliper bracket. This is why calipers are made as lefts and rights.

Hey Captain do you have a website where we can see your products or can you send me what you offer and the parts list that you have to have other than what you sell. I'd like to get a set of those rear disc brackets not real sure what else I will need.

One more question, how much does this entire upgrade cost with your bracket then the extras at the parts store. Has anyone added it up and compared options?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Sorry, but with working 70-80 hrs a week, I just do not have time to build my website. Most of what I have to sell is in the links in my signature line. There are a couple more links in the for sale threads.

Each of the 5 rear disc conversion brackets I sell, come with a parts list of what you need to complete the installation. The main parts are mentioned in each for sale thread.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I'm curious,

A '72 C10 with factory disk on the front, if I swap out to the Wildwood D52 calipers up front. Is it possible to reuse the factory front disk brakes with your brackets on the rear?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Since your '72 C10 has D52 calipers, yes they will bolt up to these brackets. You could likely use the hoses on the rear also.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I know it's been several months, and my project slowed so I forgot about it for awhile, but I'm finally to the point of installing my Eldorado calipers, and was wondering if you ever got that run of levers completed? If so what would a set go for?

Thanks,

Drew

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have had the levers done for some time now. It is the cable brackets that I just have not found the time to complete. I guess I'll have to bump my work week up from 70hrs. Let me see if I can get something done on those in the next couple days

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

That would be awesome!
Here are a few shots of the installation for others to see how things look. I am using the Eldorado brake pads and they fit just fine.

First bracket that fits flush to the inside of the 4 bolt mounting flange

Shot of the brackets installed, the large thick bracket has a recess on one side that should face the backside of the axle. This is to allow the caliper piston area clearance.

A couple of shots with the calipers on, and one from the top down to show where it sits in relation to the axle.
Side view

Front view

Top view

Also, the wheels are stock Rallye 15x8 and they have plenty of clearance all around..

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Just read all of your threads on the brackets. That was a lot of good information that would have taken me way longer to find out if I had to research it all my self. To bad you repeat your self frequently because people don't take the time to read. I will be buying the 6 lug brackets from you soon, as long as I don't swap out my 12 bolt on my 69 C10. Thanks for all your hard work and great customer service Captainfab!!

Does someone have the part number for the correct wilwood d-52 calipers. Looking at getting them from Summit since I have some credit with them. Thanks

Do you need them for the front or rear? In black or red? Do you have 1" rotors or 1.25" rotors?
