Should of stayed in bed? Hell no, you should be hiding under a rock.... On the bright side, maybe the dentist will give you pain meds that will help the thumb too. I hope you can find another windshield fairly easily. I guesstoday was feathers...

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

hiding under a rock? heck, dam rock fell on me!
and oh yeah, dentist nailed me good, 2 cavaties. she shot me EIGHT times in the mouth, my lips were draggin' on the floor when i left there.....
so to make myself feel better, i went & put 3 mos insurance on the crewcab, YAY! (just hope the cops dont bug me over a ripped ins. decal, yes it stuck to my finger & ripped in half...)

one good thing about getting sheet metal cuts on your hands, the cuts are clean & narrow (and usually deep) my tumb is closing up real nice, have a scar, but chicks-nope scratch that, my wife loves scars...
cleared off my bench so nothings around me & started cutting up a rollback. this was as far as i got before i ran out of c-channel & tubing (which i went & got today...)

at least the int is free, this is what i got, i started cutting them apart last nite, but i'm really thinking just make a new int tub. i'm low on bench seats, so i'll prob cut out them molded ones & re-hash them

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

Great news on the healing and windshield. You can crawl out from under the rock now....lol. Roll back bed is looking good. I've been driving my K30 crew the last couple of weeks, it's kinda cool.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

yeah, i been walking softly lately Dale, was doing good till sat.
making bad choices again....
decided to pick up a few extra hrs at work, went in on sat to fix one of the truck racks (good decision)
things were going good till it came time to weld every thing up, SOMEONE "borrowed" my welding gloves & did'nt put them back.
decided to use regular work gloves (bad decision....)
as you can guess, a bunch of sparks went thru them in a tenth of a second, too bad it took me 10 seconds to start smelling "steak"....
i gotta cut this out, turning this into a blood & gore thread....

but i still managed to get a start on the rollback...

here's what it looks like on the crew
after i get a cab floor in it & see where it will sit on the frame, i'll make a headache rack for the front of the deck, want it to be just a touch higher than the cab

Safety First....LOL!!!! Good thing you have a good nose. Rollback looks awesome. You're right the headache rack should be a touch higher than the cab. That way the lightbar is visible from both ends. Are you going to fab a towbar/wheel lift for the back?

Awesome!!!! It looks fantastic!!! Are you doing this from memory or a certain brand. It's looking a lot like a Jerr Dan, Century or Chevron to me.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

actually i was just trying to make it simple & this is what it's looking like.
looked at a few online, but i did'nt really pattern it off any one specific picture...
hoping my swamps for it will be here next week.
and seeing how it's a ROLLback, & i got this ford, just dawned on me to build it like a normal 4by that was rolled. flatten the roof a bit, busted glass, some dents, a flat tire so it's got a 3 legged dog lean....

It's looking fantastic, I think that's a good use for the Ford.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

yup, it would be a good use for a ford!

ok, wow, when it rains it pours....needed a window for the '55....
found a local guy with a HUGE collection of models, some very rare & cool kits, old Jo-hans, tractor trailers, planes, fire engines.....
snagged these 3 trucks for $35
another '55 (a stepper though) a '90 stepper, & a '59 elco. i have the '59 already, i tubbed & caged it, so you know where this one is going-up....
also have the '90 already too, but i'm glad i got another one. i built mine to resemble my 1:1 '90 step, & was almost going to tear it down & rebuild it-higher....
Name: 719.jpg
Views: 341
Size: 56.8 KB

also bought this box off him for $15....
Name: 718.jpg
Views: 378
Size: 51.4 KB

hmmm....
the '56 is basically just a shell, the 150 step is all there, but looks like a ford should.... (maybe "roll" this one for the back of the rollback...)
the ranchero is actually quite nice & well done-mite just leave this one alone- for now....
Name: 716.jpg
Views: 342
Size: 63.7 KB

this made the box worth it!
another'55 cab, another nicely done '55, & a 454 SS with a monkey paint job, but it's all there (dont have a '88-'98 sb fleetside in the collection-& already a big block to boot)
thinking of either turning the '55 into a suburban (ala napco), or seeing how i got all these cabs- a '55 crewy....
Name: 715.jpg
Views: 340
Size: 64.4 KB

a bag of junk in the bottom, like them oxy-acytelene tanks...
Name: 717.jpg
Views: 380
Size: 63.7 KB

he also has another box, chev dually (like the red one i just built), a '78 blazer, mike skinner goodwrench no. 3 truck, & a topless s-10 that he wants $15 for-i got a feeling i will be going over there later again....
i'm going to snatch the windshield out of the green '55 for now so i can finish the cameo, i'll replace it with the window buddy is sending me.
should have the cameo done pretty quick now....

scored more....$15 box
blazer looks to be mpc snap-tite rescue blazer. un-built no-box goodwrench nascar truck (already have, but lots of parts), another 2wd dually, & a topless s-10. not into the s-10, but it does have nice rims

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

Man, you been busy while I was up north at my cabin. It all looks great and I agree about shortening the wheel base. I like the 38's. The front end would sit a little higher with a load on it. So with a truck up there it will look correct. I'm also liking the detail (rivets). Nice attention to details. Keep it up!

the firewall is from the sneaky pete kit, has a mini kenworth nose, so after a bunch of grinding- got it into a squarebody. lost the floor ribbing sanding the bejeezus out of it, so laid some strip styrene over what was left. will putty it up & smooth it & hopefully look like actual cab ribbing

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

have a warn electric winch i was going to use on the deck, but it looked TINY & WIMPY on there....went looking for a pic & see some of the older trucks are running worm gear winches. i think a worm gear with cogged wheels looks more interesting then a wimpy electric, so i ripped apart a old car cassette player, hoping to get one or 2 decent size wheels. boy, was i surprised when this many came out of it....

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

The bed controls are frame mounted (stationary). Standard equipment is on the drivers side. Optional dual controls are on both sides. Air cleaner looks great. Everything is coming out nice. Creative thinking on the wideband using the transistors as oil filters.
