Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...
Heres my 57 dump truck. Paid $75 for it at auction. Paid a wrecker $100 to drag it home. The 261 engine was blown I installed a 307. I use it a few times per year. The 59 was drove to that very spot by me 40 years ago. Couldn't get a title so I junked it, Only paid $22.50 at auction for it so I didn't care.

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...
Here's my '62 C50 wrecker. It has the original 283/4sp-2sp rear. Actually looking for a master cylinder for it if anyone knows where to find one and other parts for these cool old trucks! I'm also looking for good tire prices on 8R 22.5 both recaps for the rear and either good used or affordable new for the front.
It has an in dash tachometer.. Is that pretty common in these? |

Mack, did you just buy that? I think that's the one I posted a thread about finding on craigslist.

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...
you need to open an account on photobucket (free )
www.photobucket.com upload you pictures intoo youre fotoalbum then copy and paste the link eeeeh think it was the one with img in front and behind it intoo the stuff youre writing in the box and post it if you got the right link you get the picture in the post if not you get the link , people can click that and see the pic anyways theres one thing not so good about using photobucket : if you delete pictures in youre photobucket account the pictures in front of them get renamed and all the links you made to those will stop working

Interesting that it's 5 lug front and 10 lug rear, is that common? I don't know anything about the bigger trucks.
It looks to me like manual brakes too, which I wouldn't expect.

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...
weird looking master cilinder , looks a bit like one of those racetype twin mastercilinders where you can balance te front and back of the car
think the idea to upgrade to a later year mastercilinder and brakebooster might be the best idea yet i think they updated the rearaxle to a heavier 2 speed or newer type allready

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...
my 65 has that same master cylinder, the right reservoir is for the clutch. I was able to get a replacement with the right size bore from o'rielleys auto parts store... was around $200, if you want to get away from the o.g. m/s captain fab on this site sells a kit that splits the clutch and brake m/c. his is for a c/10, but should fit your firewall...
the tach , while in the right spot is an aftermarket piece. "Interesting that it's 5 lug front and 10 lug rear, is that common? I don't know anything about the bigger trucks. It looks to me like manual brakes too, which I wouldn't expect." the 5/10 is common, if you notice the front wheels are still drilled with the 10 bolt pattern... there is a big vacuum booster for the brakes located under the cab. the rear also has dual wheel cylinders, one on the top, and one on the bottom of the backing plate.. cool truck! __________________

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...
I messed up on posting the wheel pictures. The top is a later model 20 inch from a c50, below that is my 22.5 rear. Below that is the front 20 on the newer truck. I was wondering if there would be any advantage in swapping out to the smaller wheel, but I noticed the fronts don't match up, I'll post a pic of my front wheel
