Re: 72 Suburban Build

We all have those issues with parts you just build faster than the rest of us so yours are all at once as ours are spread out over time... Or hell maybe you really are lucky..

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I've had issues with some of the bigger things I have gotten for my burb and Nova. Delays in shipping, parts missing, and stuff just being flat wrong. I know with my PB order it was delayed and parts missing. Nate got the stuff out ASAP and others just didn't seem to give a crap. hang in there dude it will all be worth it.

Confirmed some measurements with Dennis and the Dropmember he has is set up for a SBC.... NOT a BBC. The new ones have a different motor mount set-up allowing for multiple engine variations, while the older units had welded tabs that were engine specific.

It was not purchased through me direct, but I take care of my guys regardless. New set of mounts on their way tomorrow!

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Just got a phone call from my detailer (the dude who decides where I'm getting stationed next) and I am heading to San Diego! I'm pretty excited for two reasons. I won't be 2600 miles away from my wife and kid and I have TONS of connections with machine shops out there.

Yes, its one of his earlier ones. Send him an email or give him a call. He's pretty easy to get in touch with. I would measure the tabs on the dropmember that the motor mounts bolt to (from the drop member to the center of the hole). If they are 2.5" inches, you're good. If they're 2", you'll probably need new motor mounts if you're running a BBC. Talk to Nate though.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I took a couple days off from working on the Burb. I hit a wall, had no mojo left, plus I was waiting for parts. My new ididit tilt column and new master cylinder came. I did the necessary firewall modifications in order to run the billet ball/swivel firewall mount. It looks badass!!! The firewall is finally complete.
Also, a little knowledge I picked up. If you order the ididit column for the 67-72, it comes with the adapter that you need to wire up the column. You don't need to buy one like I was told by the place i ordered it from. If any of you need the adapter, let me know, I have a spare one that I'll be more than happy to ship to you.

Thanks! I actually planned ahead (which is totally out of character for me) and did most of it before i welded it on. After I welded it on I took the approach of, its not a show truck (will easily get 5-10,000 miles per year driving), I don't really care if its not 100% perfect, 98% will do for me in that spot.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Spent most of the day so far cleaning up/painting the tranny. I decided to test fit my new Lokar shifter now because its probably easier than doing it in the Burb. I definitely like it better than B&M so far. I'm going to get the tranny bolted up to the motor tonight and drop it in tomorrow morning.
I also met a fellow C10 dude today. Brady came buy to rescue my stock column from the trash can. He drove is very nice short/step over. I was most impressed though with under his hood. You don't see people put work into straight sixes that much anymore. It was nice to see something different.
