Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
From the first pictures I was thinking it's sitting in the middle of nowhere. If they are scarce, that's a great find.

Air Brakes with the old style pedal in bus #5561. Don't believe I ever saw one before.
Was your Astro Detroit powered?

The picture of the interior is actually from 5873 ( the pictures didn't load in the right order, TWICE !!! ) Yes, the Astro had a 318 HP Detroit V8 with a 13 speed . . . VERY underpowered in todays world without a turbo !!! ( but it had power steering and air . . . most didn't in 1977.) . . . . |

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Never saw the old style pedal in vehicle that new. I had that style pedal in my '62 GMC 6500. What year is bus 5873?

My 1988 Kodiak has that type pedal and has air brakes. I have built several 84 thru 88 C7000s & Topkicks that had the same type pedal.

Your Kodiak on the left, looks like it has a rubber "pad" . . . 5873 on the right, had a metal pad and was slippery when it got wet. ( same grooves though ) . . . . |

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Found this C90 on the way to a cemetery the other day...
It has an old 'For Sale' sign in the windshield. Anything written long ago has since faded. I don't know anything about these bigger trucks. Wonder what year model it is?

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Interesting truck. It is at least a 1970 or newer, but probably not any newer than a '74. It has a 10-Speed Road Ranger trans and most likely has a 6-71 Detroit Diesel in it.
Strange it has a low GVW though at 29,900. It probably only has a 7000 Front Axel, which was the minimum. Wondering what they would take for just the tractor? Bill

I'd like to have the tractor and trailer.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
What a shame. All tose years hauling grain and it finally lays a load over. Hopefully not hurt too bad, though.
Mmmm,I dunno. Haul trucks? Or,how about vintage equipment? Something cool about a big Chevrolet truck instead of a GMC. You think of GMC more than Chevy.

Look good with an old restored tractor on there, then an old GMC on the back.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Thought I would get this thread going again. Here is one of the best examples of a 10-Speed Road Ranger Trans that I've seen.
Now the truck itself is not GM, but the Engine is. I posted this for the Trans, but at the same time, enjoy the sound of another 6-71 Detroit: Bill
