Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
Finally got to stop in Saturday and check on the progress. Is looking good. Tried to lend a hand, but wasn't a whole lot of need for a 3rd one, except to pass some tools back and forth.
How'd the air tank mounts come out? Find a final size for the batteries???

I know i'm getting lazy with the pics, but it's crunch time and i want to get this done. If the stars align, the moon is, umm, out, and nothing goes wrong, it will be out of the garage this sunday.

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
ok, so the only thing that aligned so far this weekend is my wallet to the trash pile.
Long story is here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=3312258 short story is i fried my ididit column and have to wait until next week to get a replacement. on a brighter note, i got my gauges all wired up and nearly mounted. You're going to dig how i decided to mount them. tooks lots of pics and plan to do a write up on it. |

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
It's ALIVE!
fired it up for the first time this afternoon and man does it sound good! especially just running headers. first couple tried had no luck, but then we found that the plug wires weren't right and the dizzy was 2 teeth off. 10 min later and a little gas down the carb and it was all good. the front clip is mounted, radiator and fan mounted and wired, trans cooler is done, drive shaft in, gauges are mounted, air tank and compressors are mounted and i got my air manifolds built. The TODO list is still fairly long before i can leave the drive way, but it will definitely be on the road by the end of this weekend. if not sooner. needless to say, i was smiling ear to ear when it fired. |

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
once i get sheet metal on all of the rear, the bags will be really clean then. all you'll see is the two inlets, and then 4 3/8" lines that go straight down into the sheet metal (w/ grommets). from there they will route to the bags. you also won't see any of the valves either. that won't happen for a while though.

Re: 1950 Chevy 3600 - Bumper Punchin'
welp, we went on a 30 mile each way trip today. blew the same air line off the tank twice, but other than that, all went well. temps stayed low, oil pressure stayed in a good range, and the exhaust was LOUD!
We got the leaks all taken care of, the hood is on, the front glass is in, the bed is on (need to do the front mounts yet), the tail lights are on and working (but one brake isn't for some odd reason) and the headlights are in. making the trip down to kirksville is looking better by the day. Just need to get exhaust done this week and we should be good. open headers may be a bit much for a 4 hour drive... |
