Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
Yesterday I stumbled across a CL add. I scored two more fenders and inner wheel wells off of a 68 CST long bed. This guy is parting out a fully optioned truck. The trim on the fenders protected all of the leading edges and no rust.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
Last night I removed all of the trim and started sanding. I am going to cover the side markers and weld up all of the trim and emblem holes.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
That was a nice score...never have 2 many 67-8 fenders!! Buy the metal inserts the guy on here and ebay has to weld up the markers....they are worth it...........jim

Very nice score on the fenders. That stuff doesn't come around very often.

Wow the front end looks great on there, I'm jealous of your rust free craigslist finds too. Great news on going to paint soon, maybe I missed it but what are you thinking for paint color.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
Such a sick build. Did you just sandblast the cab to prep it for paint? And how do you like the stainless bolt kit? Did it come with everything you thought it did or would you suggest getting another kit with it? Thanks for the advice buddy!

You can't go wrong with RED. Looking forward to color. Sounds like your painter is really fast too.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual
I decided to fill in a few more holes on the firewall and cut out the dash for factory A/C vents. This was very nerve racking!

Nice job on the dash vent holes, it's so nerve racking some people just replace the whole dash. It's a lot of work to do it that way.

Thank you very much for giving me the template! It made it almost idiot proof. I was concerned when I first saw it because it was hand drawn. Yes, Thanks.. The drivers side took me about 2.5 hours. Last night I cut the passenger side and center in about an hour. The nerves finally calmed down.

Thanks! I am pleased it came out nice. I dropped off the cab and most of my sheet metal to my painters shop yesterday. I am hoping to get it back in 6-8 weeks.

This weekend I prepped the last bit of sheet metal for my painter.
