Re: My 86 build

Got the Buckle center belts in. The belts I found were in really nice shape, other than this frayed section. So I cut it off, since it was close to the end, and sewed it back up. That repair is done and all the belts are mounted in the truck.

Re: My 86 build

My Door Panels arrived this weekend. But before I install them, I知 going to replace my door pins & bushings. I知 waiting on a few tools to help aid with the removal of the pins, and the other tool helps with the placement of the bushing.

Re: My 86 build

So the other day, when I installed the Jack Tools where they are mounted on the right side engine room, I noticed the battery try was looking a bit shabby. So I removed it, and I知 going to sandblast it and repaint it, along with the bolts.

Well I went to get the receipt to find out, because I致e had the sticker in an envelope for several years. And I just got it out the other day, and the receipt was with it. I must have mistakenly thrown it away, because I can稚 find it now.

Re: My 86 build

Had decent day out, so I sandblasted the Tray and Bolts. Spray the tray with undercoating, since it looked like that痴 what was on it already. Also got a tray mat and new positive connection. I would like to find an original looking, but this will do until then. All back together!!

Re: My 86 build

Changing out the pins & bushings on the doors. The PO seemed to think it was easier to tack weld the pins to the bottom of the hinge bracket, rather than just put back the C-clip! My brother came up to help, we ended up taking the door off by unbolting the hinge brackets. That gave us a little more room to use a Dremel and grind off the welds. Several hours later, we finally got the pins out!! Well, one door that is! While the door is off, I知 going to clean up the door jamb and do some spray paint touch ups. Another day we will reinstall the door and start the process over again, with the other door. 🥵

Re: My 86 build

That's too bad about changing your pins and bushings turning out to be such a challenge, but the engine bay is looking great with the refreshed battery tray and tire tools!

Re: My 86 build

I think I知 going to just replace the entire hinges. I was thinking they may be bent. The PO was using a lot of shims. So I ordered some just to compare them with mine, and I think there is a chance that they are bent. I知 not crazy about using aftermarket hinges, but they seem well made and identical to the OEM.

Re: My 86 build

While I was waiting on the new hinges to arrive from Classic Parts, I changed out the SPID in the glove box. I have only had this for about 3-4 yrs. I had it made primarily to change the interior color, from Burgundy to Charcoal, since that’s what I did with the interior. Had the SPID made here: http://outintheshop.com/2.html

Re: My 86 build

Got the hinges sandblasted just enough to etch them. Primed and then paint.
