Fake flower greening clips? Are those the staple thingy's
Where do I get them? I was just gonna glue mine on, and/or safety wire them & twist them on the back side!

Where did you get the mounting tabs for the splash shields? Holds them to the fenders? Paint is looking great as is the truck.

For the metal panel mounting clips, i had another thread people helped with:

and ended up getting 12 from classic (4 for the panel you see and 2 for the L-shaped bracket that i don't have on yet that goes across the top, per side:

Just put them in the hole with the parts line up and squeeze with pliers, and the other end opens and holds them together.

The metal staples you can get the correct ones from lots of vendors, they used them on gm cars forever. I used the correct ones on my 71 pontiac, but they were a PITA to do on the inner fenders...the staples are stiff and no length on the staple ends side to bend with pliers, so you need two guys to do them.

These are long and softer, so i just lined up the rubber and drilled in the existing metal holes with a tiny drill bit to pierce the rubber, inserted the greening pins, and bent them over one by one on the other side. When done, i trimmed the excess with side cutters, laid the panel on the bench and tapped them down a little more lightly with the hammer to be sure they were snug.

I found the idea from someone else on here actually, i just can't find the thread at the moment! After working with the original staples, i knew this was the way to go.

I got mine from Michael's craft store (they also sell the green krylon paint, satin jade, for the dash cluster metal case, and silver paint pens for doing trim work on other gauges i had...) I'm sure any craft store like that has them.

Anyways, look for fake flowers and styrofoam shapes and they're near there...here's a pic of them and the box. It was 1.99 for a box of $50. Usually like 12 staples is $6 from the resto-houses.

This forum really is a wealth of ideas, i'm just stealing them all to put into my truck

Thanks! I did the L shaped brackets that go above those with the same clips today and some inner fender seal, everything there is about done until i get the fenders on, and put the little top metal brackets on after that. Started work on the hood today too.

Thanks and that hood underside is single stage centauri, no clear, 30% gloss mixed 8:1:2 per the can. The rest of the truck we are shooting in single stage centauri, little thinner on the paint than the 8:1:2, and using nason clear over it 2 coats, mixed per the can. I am happy with it. if shooting metallic, i wouldn't thin the paint any more than the can says, but i'd still use clear over (and i plan on doing that with a quick resquirt of my 66 catalina that someone did in nason metallic but the finish is pretty matte.) I didn't want to spray any clear under the hood because the 30% gloss is already pretty glossy compared to stock i feel. Paint jobber said that the hardender kind of counter acts the flattening agent, and temp, shooting conditions, etc can affect how flat it ends up being.

Anyways, you can tell as you're painting that it's a brown based black. I'm told there is a blacker pure black that you'd want to use on the outside of a car that apparently makes a difference?

Did the color on the hood today, and the second fender cover that we never did clear, and the windshield cowl panel...check it all out tomorrow, if no respray work done, then done with all panels except the bed!

I will be taking the bottom masking off later hopefully, doing some quick touch ups if any overspray got through, and then the fun (for me anyways) part begins: i get to start putting the parking lights in, new rubber and clips, wiring harness, etc to make the hood complete. I LOVE assembling with new parts.

I had filled the front panel seam with seam sealer and wiped it with a gloved finger. I wanted the crease to remain there so it looked normal, but not as deep as it is factory. I did the same on the fenders where the front black piece is spot welded to the white/green rest of the fender. I like the look and think it works well.

Also, did inside the nose holes with black and masked it off, looks like it came out well. I'm not a fan when they're just overspray of body color. They look good body color, or black, but just kind of off color overspray looks bad, especially on the front of the vehicle, one of the most looked at areas. I have some hand touch up to do in there, but it looks like the tape kept 99.99% out.

Started some assembly on the hood today and ran into some questions:

Grinding off the pin allowed me to take the hing apart for paint. I made a new spring (2 actually) from a coat hanger, and found workable springs to replace the other ones in the latch setup. For the hinge pin in the latch, i found a simple locking pin that i took the wire off of, and i will drill a hole in the end once assembled and put a cotter pin through it. It won't be totally stock but clean, with clean lube, painted black and shiny springs should make it look new and work smoothly. Still confused on how/where some of the rubber pieces go.

Hey thanks! It's not perfect, i have some touch up to do around the lower lip and some orange peel i have to sand on the nose section...and there are some dirt specs i'll be cleaning up, but i appreciate the compliments! The photos always miss the flaws and make every piece come out perfect, but i know where all the problems are even if you guys don't catch them

I finished doing the homemade latch today, i think one spring doesn't belong, think PO put it there because main spring broke. Coat hanger spring worked great! very firm!
