Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
wow, great! you inspired me too...I want to add couple of gaues to my 74 Suburban and was looking into the A-pillar for mounting. Seeing this and also having an overhead console already in place, I might consider also putting them over my head.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Spent the better part of today finishing up some fiberglass work, mounting and trimming to fit around all the plates (had to of done it 50 bloody times..lol), and now going to get a thin cotton coat of fiberglass over the main body, then smooth it out and get it ready for high build.
Want to try and run the wiring tomorrow...going to atttempt to get it through the A pillar.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Well, lots accomplished this week for a change.
Got my gauges all dialled in to what I wanted and decided on a company to purchase from (Classic Instruments), went with an old "stewart warner" style looking gauge. Kind of giving it the look of the old muscle cars/hot rods I guess. That and they match the heater controls etc. Should look alright when said and done. Also got the doors in the booth, coat of epoxy primer, sealer and high build on the outside. Inners are painted the white, but outside going to block out on the truck and paint when I get a few other things on the cab completed and ready for paint, then give the whole cab a final coat of white. All things considered with the new paint guns I bought were being "temperamental" and just right out making my life a living hell while painting....they look pretty decent. Still considering swapping to the 74 front clip...but will probably save that for next winter project. Will see..... Overhead console is primed with high build, just have to fix a few pin holes and should be ready for paint early in the week. Gauge pods for the dash are roughed out and high build primed as well, still sitting in the booth flashing off so I can bring them home tomorrow and sand them out. They also should be ready for paint early in the week. Just in time for the new gauges to show up around Friday. Ordered up my door parts/weather strip kits for all four doors from LMC tonight as well. Productive week, but can't wait to at least get most of this interior buttoned up now. List seems endless!.....

Hoping it all works out as planned. Should be in paint by tomorrow....errr, this morning. Up late having a few comfort drinks...lol. Hoping to be in shape to throw some tint at them in around 6 hours or so. Can't wait to get one more thing polished off the list.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Still flashing off the last coat here, will dull/flatten out like the dash when all said and done. Turned out pretty well actually. Went back to my trusty cheap ass HVLP and as usual never lets me down.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
I noticed u were looking for info on wheels. I know U don't wanna go that big. But I'm currently running 8 lug 24s. They are 24x10 with +30mm offset. Not sure on back spacing. But they fit nice up under fenders. I currently dropped the back. Still gotta do the front. Hope this helps. And if u don't mind me asking how did u drop yours?

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
I used bell tech drop spindles and cut a couple coils, wish I had of left a half coil more and will be ordering coils soon before she is done.
I might have a line on 22x12 smoothies and only going narrow up front. If I have to go 20s, my options are 8.5" wide with either 5" or 6" back spacing. How much back spacing do your fronts have??

I'm not real sure on back spacing. I've got 24x10 all the way around. With +30mm offset.

I'm thinking like a 6" backspace? Maybe. I'm not sure how to determine that

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Thanks guys....appreciate the comments. And ya, FID (painter) has some serious talent. Has had quite a few custom paint jobs in a ton of cycle magazines. Good friend that shares the custom culture mindset. There will be a bit more once I get the interior together....door panels n such.
As for wheels if yours are 6" back spacing, how is your frame to tire clearance? And overall tire width/height? Appreciate the help.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
I'm running a 275-30-24 tire. Which comes to 10.83" wide and a overall diameter of 30.5" tall. I'll get some pictures of the tire to frame clearance tomorrow.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Quote:
BS measure from the outside of the rim to the mounting surface. A 10" wheel is 11" wide from outside to outside. The +30mm is 1.18" toward the outside from the center of the wheel. So, 1/2 the wheel width (5.5") plus the offset (1.18") equals the back space (6.68") BTW - the dash is really coming together. Can't wait to see the rest of the interior completed.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
So with that offset, you don't have any rubbing issues against the frame or anything?
