Re: El Chingon

Decided to make the pinion angle adjustable at the crossmember. Got the idea front porterbuilts crossmember. Right now my pinion angle is between 3 and 4 degrees nose down. I think with the adjustable bracket I can get it close too 1 or 0. Started fabricating the brackets from 1/4 plate. Hotchkis makes something similar, I refuse to pay $280.00 for it.

Re: El Chingon

Finished them this afternoon. I'm not a "Porterbuilt" welder but it will do.

Re: El Chingon

Trailing arm mounts turned out perfect. Now I can move every aspect of the drive line. Trans angle, carrier bearing, and diff angle can now be adjusted.

Re: El Chingon

Why are you using the spacers between the brackets and the crossmember?

Thanks, Wade

When you use the factory trailing arms in my application it tends to pull the axle forward towards the front of the truck. These spacers will push the axle back to center it in the fender wells in the bed.

Yes he does. I'm just to cheap to buy them. I like the challenge of building and resolving my own issues. Porterbuilt makes nice products and I have used a few of them to speed my build.

Re: El Chingon

I hear ya, my buddy has them on his '70 with a 6.0...when coming on/off a freeway ramp with any sort of bump..she will shake her butt worse than a cheap stripper

Methinks they aren't adjusted evenly

Re: El Chingon

Carrier bearing spacer made and installed. This should get the drive line dialed in according to the porterbuilt specs

Re: El Chingon

I had to shorten my trailing arms to get the wheels in the center of the bed. Just redid the crossmember.

Re: El Chingon

That's a really nice bed dolly - those big tires will be nice to roll around in the shop! Pretty slick how you made it to bolt together in the middle.

Thanks, I wanted it where I can store it flat when not in use. It will be easily adjustable with a spacer having a two piece middle section.

Project looks great! Are you going to need some #Chubtubz also? I'll make you a package deal on them and the hood brackets. LMK.
