Trust me I know, I was barely shifting into 3rd by the time I crossed the line. I plan to add some cal-tracs, built 9", 4l80e, and some ET streets when I get back from Okinawa. I might be changing the front suspension as well and possibly adding a turbo.

Re: post latest 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 60ft.
New personal best for me last night. The truck was mad and wanted to run last night. Had to go to the tower and sign a warning letter for safety infractions of no roll bar, jacket and harness.
The truck had more ET in it with a little more tuning. Might have been able to hit a low 11.4's I had to turn down launch RPM and short shift the gears to keep it at the 11.5's

I have an 86 with a 355 aluminum heads bout 10.5:1 2.02 int. 1.60exh. Only a holley 650 (I know).. Slipping th350 pulling it this weekend to get rebuilt with 3.73s and locker. Went 8.9 at 77 leaving at idle 1.9-2.0 60' on 255 street tires with vht down (that stuff works!).. Thinking 4.11s bigger carb less weight 100 shot or so. Truck is full weight whatever that is power steering carpet dual tanks bucket seats scsb.. Got 13mpg driving 30 miles to track

How big of a converter? I suggest going bigger on the verter vs more gear. I promise you will see better results.

Re: post latest 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 60ft.
Tci 3500 10" for now having to leave at idle had bald slicks and it spun/wheel hopped.
Trading it and some more trans parts for a 2700-3000 stall and rebuilding my th350 with hardened parts Next thing when I scrape up the cash will be an 850 Cfm carb then save for trailer the the rest of that stuff... |

Re: post latest 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 60ft.
Personally think your converter is too tight and you will go much faster with a 4500 rpm verter with same gear vs 3000rpm verter and 4.10 or even 4.56.
I have gone from a 26" tire with 3.73's and 3, 600 rpm verter and 1.89 60' To 30" tire 3.73 and 4, 500 verter and 1.67 60' To 30" tire 4.56 and 4, 500 verter and 1.59 60' but 400lbs lighter What rpm do you shift?

1970 CST10, 462Ci,218/224@050 (stocker cam basically), Turbo350, open carrier rear end with 3.08 gears. 2009 hankook street tires. Chassis dyno,ed at 340RWHP/375RWTQ all below 5000 RPM's. Pulled a 2.3,,,,,60' 9.1,,,,,1/8 @ 75 mph 14.3,,,,1/4 @ 93.6 mph Never could hook up with this setup, but boy o boy was it fun smoking the tires through the 60' every time. Lol

Re: post latest 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 60ft.
All in all a good day..
Off the trailer 25* timing: 60' = 1.54 1/8 = 6.60 @ 118.9 1/4 = 10.41 @ 125.55 No changes 2nd motor pass: 60' = 1.53 1/8 = 6.58 @ 105.92 1/4 = 10.38 @ 126.97 Opened the bottle with a 100hp hit off the foot brake 17* timing. I was given someone elses slip. Felt faster. Buddies told be it what it went. End of the night, my buddies that work at the track gave me a copy of the main printer print out but no 60' 1/8 = 6.25 @ 114.4 1/4 = 9.82 @ 132 Through the traps at 7,250 so I have a little more RPM 2nd bottle pass, trans brake launch. Lifted both fronts and unloaded the rear tires: 60' = 1.50 1/8 = 6.34 @ 112.7 1/4 = 9.94 @ 130.6 3rd bottle pass again trans brake lifting both tires and unloading 60' = 1.43 1/8 = 6.26 @ 113.0 1/4 = 9.88 @ 130.6 4th bottle pass. Swapped jets to the 175 hit, put a cold fresh bottle in and dropped to 13* timing. I was trying to get it up to temp and the track actually let me run 15min after closing to try and bring temp up. It was a bit low causing it to be fat enough to miss slightly down the full track. Again foot brake: 60' = 1.542 1/8 = 6.30 @ 114.1 1/4 = 9.97 @ 130.6 I think I need to tighten the shocks some for the bottle passes off the brake, clean up the AFR and add a bit of timing. I think it could go 9.6-9.7 with the 100hit and probably 9.4-9.5 with the 175.. Still have the 2nd stage. Need to go 8.9 before the turbos...

That is some "super" fun times. Man how does it feel to run 9's in a SBC truck?
That's rad. Plain BAD A$$ Congrats. I need to make it south and watch that truck run.

Re: post latest 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 60ft.
Truck feels great. Other than when it unloaded the rears from the shock felt by the front suspension maxing out. It would put me slightly right but manageable.
The top end on the brakes aint bad either but the front does sit about 3/4" off the lower bump stops at ride height. There is an initial slight nose dive. I did not want to go through all the drama of a license and chassis cert until the truck was a proven 9 second ride. But I think the chassis is up to the 8.5 spec. Last thing I needed was a window net and that went in friday night. Just need to control the front. I think tightening up the rebound on the front and the bound on the rear might help. I did change to a 110lb spring the the rear from a 130lb.

Re: post latest 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 60ft.
Got to the track last weekend. New carburetor(self built HP1000) and some new rear tires (315/60/15) 30" et streets. Ran a total of nine times(they let me run the fast lane all night) It was a street night so hardly no prep. I ended up spinning 7 of the 9 passes I made. I think one of the rear coils is going bad or im having trouble with one of the trailing arms. The ride height is off side to side in the rear and I kept unloading the rear left tire. Transmission was slipping into second gear(ended up losing second on the way home). Best 60' was a 1.75 and a best et of 7.70@ 88.7 I did get a new best MPH on pump gas spinning pretty hard. 90.4 MPH my best MPH out of this motor on 104 octane was 91. Gotta pull the transmission out and take to the rebuilder and see what I broke(guessing sprag let go--making noise while slipping second gear) and after that im gonna put a set of coilovers on the rear with an adjustable panhard setup and get back out there and tear it up again!
