That looks very nice Kim. In reference to the piece being welded in the 4th picture of thread post #247, how did you grind or smooth out the T weld that attatches it to the inner pillar? I ask because I trimmed my drip rail and the filler peice needed is basically the same type of joint and location and the weld is very hard to get to with a grinder.

I was just reading through your post again and its funny how we've done some of the same mods and went about doing them totally different. The end result is what matters and yours look great. You are doing a great job keep it up.

I thought I had looked at every one of your post I don't know how I missed your wheels. Man those wheels are mean looking. Are you going to run a thin trim ring or chrome the outer most part of the rim or chrome the rim and just paint the center?, lol sorry too many questions. You think you might use the low profile Camaro Ralley center cap? Truck is looking good.

Sorry It has taken me so long to comment on your pictures. I have been saving them all lol in my picture file. This site is addictive and I am all over the place reading everybodies stuff and saving pictures. One day I was suppose to be in the garage and I was still on this site looking at everything.

It's a pain in the tight spots. I use a small disc on an air grinder. As the disc wears I can get them into the tighter spots. They don't last very long but they do the job.

Yeah I noticed that also. I also have found myself doing things one way on one side and changing for the other. It all depends on which side of the bed I woke up on.

Right now I have a thin trim ring for the wheels. They make a thick one but I didn't think it looked good on the wide wheels.
As far as the caps go I like the small moons with a chevy logo in them.
I plan on painting the wheels the same color as the truck when ever I figure out what that will be.

I honestly don't mind. There's nobody in my neighborhood who is into doing this stuff. This is the only place that I can talk to like minded people, other than when my brother comes over but he's into f#%ds.

Well I finally got to the cowl.
The 1st pic is the original.
I stated by tracing the curve in some 16 gauge sheet.
The new piece.
Trial fit for size.

The ends need to be bent down to match the curve of what's left of the old cowl.

It's to the point now where a little filler and it should be good to go.
I'm eventually going to weld it to the cab.

I used the old cowl. I layed it on my sheet upsidedown and traced the curve from the top of it on the piece I was cutting. Then I measured the width of the old vents and just moved it down that far. I had to tweak it a little but all in all it fit pretty good

I only had to bend the ends to get them to fit with the old cowl. I know the old one had a slight curve that went the whole length. I wasn't sure what I was going to do but once I got the ends to fit the rest looked O.K.
I just used a body hammer with a round face to shape the ends.
I know some guys put a piece in for each section but I didn't want to do all the extra welding for that.

The cowl looks very nice Kim. I havent thought about doing this modification, but were these vents simply for air to come into the cab? Any downfall of doing this?

They also let a lot of debris collect in the lower cowl area. Mine was rusted out on the passenger side and I had to rebuild it. I plan on running AC so I'm not to worried about ventilating the cab.
