Re: Project N2Deep
The Intros are 20x8 f & 22x10 r ( I don't have the offset) & rally's are 15x6.5 & 15x8.
Spoke to the shop today and they are still working on getting the front together. Seems like other cars are getting pushed ahead of my truck. I hope to see the front together next week! Pulled the Airstream w/the 72 4x4 on the fwy last weekend (scary!!!) Never noticed how much play in the steering until I pulled thr trailer on the fwy. I'm having a guy finish the polish on the Airstream. I started it a few months ago and haven't had the time to work on it. I will have to do alot of work to the 72 if I want to tow with it. Will post pics when front clip is done! |

Re: Project N2Deep
Well the Airstream came out great. As soon as I get a few days off I will paint the bumper & hitch areas and start the detail work.
I've been driving my moms 64 Nova wagon to work for the last few weeks and been getting 16 mpg (wahoo!). I figure thats about double what I get in the trucks, but the radiator just went so my savings will go right back into the car. I tell my neighbors (most drive hybrids that the Nova is my idea of going "Green"). Most of the front of the project truck is painted, last week I stopped by and he was detailing the frame so he could reassemble the front end. Not much progress other then that. If I wasn't working 80-90 hrs a week I would be over there every other day, but as it stands I stop by every few weeks! |

Re: Project N2Deep
I'm jealous of all your toys. I would love to one day have a 4x4 to go along with my 68. That 55 chevy is a beautiful car.

Re: Project N2Deep
I dropped off some more parts (water pump was frozen and he needed misc. Parts). Brake and fuel lines are run. He wants to get motor together and detail the frame before he puts the front clip back on. I'm going to order the fuel tank and rear wheel tubs next week. We are shooting for late Feb or early March for it to be complete (less the interior).

Re: Project N2Deep
Stopped by last week and he had everything but the hood painted on the front. He also sent the hinges, hood latch & bolt out to get chromed. He shaved the front bumper and it looks good. I will take more pics next week (taking a week off from work!) when I get the CPP fuel tank. I just need to order the Auto Meter "carbon" guages, air ride setup & rear tubs.

Are you shaving the bumper and chroming or painting?

The bumper will be painted! The only thing not painted up front will be the headlight buckets and the grille mouldings! Still waiting on my CPP order (7-10 days shipping???).

Re: Project N2Deep
Ok I got the fuel tank last week & it looks good. I ordered the Auto Meter gauges ($750 w/electric speedo sender ouch!!) and got it Sat. I stopped by the shop and he was finishing up the wiring harness (mostly hidden and all shrink wrapped, he said he spent 3 full day on just the wiring). And the chrome shop wanted over $300 to chrome hinges & striker plate, so I'm going to have them powder coated the body color.
Front is still not together, but he did put one fender on & the core support. I will post some pics later! |

Re: Project N2Deep
Hinges should be done later this week then everything should go together up front! I had to order a Lokar cable shift linkage as the rod type hit the header.
I haven't made up my mind on the air ride setup. Basic setup (DVS) or the ART pro E setup. And I kind of want to keep the stock steering wheel (painted body color or interior color??) Also, I got a letter in the mail from a guy who said he used to own my 55 and wanted to know if I still owned it, its condition and if I would sell it. Man I can tell you how man "old guys" that have told me they use to own a 55 and had to sell it cuz their "old lady" or ex made them sell it. Or how they use to cut them up for parts back in the day! All of them wish they still had them, hope I don't make the same mistake! BTW all my kids have called dibs on it & my wife says if she ever leaves me that's the one thing she wants?? And I remember we got into a big fight when I bought it, as she said it looked like an ugly "lowrider" car, now she loves it?? |

Nice progress. Guess that was a few weeks ago. Any updates? Any more pics (interior, engine, close ups) of the 55?
