Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

I just wanted to show you how mine looked. The bigger wheels allow you to bring the tie rods in to the back of the wheel with more offset. You also can stack your cup until your bag is totally flat when it is layed out. Mine actually could go an inch lower but bottoms out on the bag. Then you get the absolute maximum lift when you need it and less air (softer ride) at ride height. It is a win-win.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

That's a great pic. I knew it was an option to big enough to clear the tierod end , but didn't know how big I would need to go. You said hose are 22? I wanted to do 20's to match the back originally. Your truck looks reals great!! Do you have a build page? That link just goes to your profile page...

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

Yep, it works now! Just read your build and the YouTube video you posted completely describes me and what I'm shooting for with my build. My wife and I have two kids, and we both work different schedules which would be normal but we have one car and soo much hassle dropping kids off, one person has a car other person gets dropped off... Etc.. You get the point. The reason we are doing this is so we ( I ) have some money to throw at the truck (second vehicle) to get it to a daily driver status. And this video does give me inspiration as well. (It's funny because I have wanted a chrome glove box since I started this build. ;-)

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

I speckled them with spray bed liner and used brake clean to smear it with the grain to distress them and blackened the bolt heads to blend in as knots. New wood, old looks.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

I will add the edge boards a little later. I want to think of something creative to finish it.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

And the whole bed floor will come out as one piece with those 8 bolts holding the bed on.

Thanks Kim. I am very happy with the stance. I used CAL 58 build for inspiration on stance, wheel size and style.

Thanks ChuckDriver, and your bed wood inspired me to do mine this way. I might get some metal strips and put on the seams but not sure.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

I like the idea of the bed coming out in one piece. That could come in real handy.

Re: 1959 Chevy Truck

Rich, yeah that's what I wa. Thinking too.

I got the truck aligned today and they said the front end was welded on perfectly strait!! I am so happy and relieved. He only had to use a couple spacers as usual. I was fearing this day since I cut the frame hoping it would all come out strait. So relieved!!and it felt good taking it for a real drive on the way back from the shop!
