Nice...that little block is tough to remove...I removed my chains and modified that area also....I'm always curious how you will finish it off.....Looks like your tig welding...nice

I’ve made a little progress, but not nearly enough considering how much time has passed. The battery mount has progressed. It is a bit different than my earlier plans.

Thanks for the follow up - and nice photo's.
Crazy ingenuity and workmanship on the battery mount.
Stepsides don't have quite the under body mount mount options as a fleetsides. Did you position it where you did because of the long wire run or for ease of access or both?
I'm thinking about behind the passenger seat with a Blazer flip seat base.

I liked the weight distribution better putting it under the passenger stepside fender. There was plenty of room, but it was going to be a challenge running the cable. With the battery in the front location, using 1/0 cable, there shouldn't be appreciable voltage drop. It is also easy to get it in and out.

Our family has a tough time last week. We lost our beloved friend Rocky.

I have made a bit of progress on the circuit breaker panel. It’s a bit overkill.

Here’s an update on some of my electrical work. The LS3 relay box is a challenge to safely mount. After seeing someone using a sheet metal bracket that attaches to the features on the lower box, I decided to machine something similar out of aluminum. This will allow the box to be bolted to the electrical panel shown previously. The panel will also hold the ECU.

The circuit breaker panel got some updates. The LS3 computer is mounted on some custom standoffs so the fuel pump controller and relays can mount below it. The relay box has also been attached.

The Core shifter base is the Core / Hurst Shifter Base: Tremec T56 Magnum aftermarket Option D for 12"+ stick length. The website is https://core-shifters.com/collection...31458433892470 . This base angles the stick 14 degrees to the drivers side. The Hurst shifter is the 238 0085 that is 14 inches long. My earlier post shows a dimensioned drawing. I chose the mid mount location with the stock shifter base and my custom made stick. I assumed that stick would be used with the Core base, but it put it in the wrong position. The Hurst stick was perfect.

Thank you for the quick response. I'm in the midst of figuring out my shifter/handle combo (T56 magnum in my '72/bbc) but, don't have it mocked up yet. In the meantime, I've narrowed the shifter options to D, E or F and will likely need to have the trans/seat installed to finalize the correct choice. Your input, with shift improvement (3.5" handle movement) is Very Helpful. Thanks for posting and sharing the details of your combo (I'll probably pester you with more questions as I get closer).

I'm planning to use the most forward shifter location ('inspection cover' location) on the Magnum (again, not mocked up yet). Is there a reason you didn't use that location?

It was the natural evolution from originally using the stock base. It also made the angles work out better. If you use the same stick as I in the front mount, you will have to reach a lot further to get it into the odd gears. I think it will be less comfortable.

A belated Christmas present just showed up from Mar K. The tailgate does not have provisions for chains. Although the original one is in pretty good shape, this one will save me a bunch of patching. I will be installing the hidden latches and links soon. I also got the template for painting the letters and some crossmembers.
