Re: 55-57 one piece windows
I used Trique latches and a Brothers power kit. My build is a few years old but the Brothers kit works really well and had all the components I needed so I guess it's "fixed." The latch is a close fit but works, even on my chopped top.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
I just read the whole thread and watched the vids. I cannot find a mention for the "channel" that you have to weld a 3" extension. Does anyone have a part number or a link?
Found the felt stuff... http://stores.restorationspecialties.com/y630p-96/ http://stores.restorationspecialties.com/mr172x-96/ http://stores.restorationspecialties.com/ym54r-96/ Thanks Hank

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
I went to order the PDF file on line at Kinko's and all I could seem to order was in a poster format and they wanted $43.00 so I went in and told them what I wanted and it only cost $3.30. Just wanted to let everyone know.
Thanks for this thread everyone.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
I also decided to go with power windows. It looks like you don't need that metal "C" channel as it comes with the kit.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
Changed my mind on the regulators, I think I'm going to use Nu-Relic's. The reviews I've read have all been positive and they replace the old regulators lifetime warranty also.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
FWIW I used the template and made "glass" with of 1/4" tempered hardboard for mock up and fitting. Later I got a deal on some Brothers Glass another member did not need. The template and Brothers Glass are almost exactly the same, the small variance will be concealed by the U channel.

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
Im doing this mod with the stock regulators for now, just need some roll up windows. maybe change to power later on.
Does anybody have any spare pieces for the window guide add on they'd like to share? Before I buy an entire new set for 6".... or if anybody else needs pieces we can buy one set and divy it up between all of us?

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
Sorry to rehash an old thread again but what better place than in this thread.
I am about to start this mod on my truck in NZ. Obviously its a bit harder down here with the lack of suppliers but I have a good exporter in LA which helps heaps. I was looking at the extension needed to extend 3" for the channel run. I know its been linked above a number of times but is it the same part as #7 on this page from LMC. I was going to be getting a few small parts (roof skin and visor) from them shortly and thought I might just add it at the same time...... Finally - the 3 links from restorationspecialies - Do I just need 1 of each piece to complete or multiples. Q Last edited by QBRacing; 08-21-2017 at 02:05 AM. |

On the other links you only need 1ea the last number of the part number is 96 meaning it is 96 inches long. |

Talked with Jeff, he knew exactly what I was doing - there are actually two different felts if you are cutting up and reusing the front division bar as your glass guide. He has all the stuff to make both tracks work RIGHT, no slop! The best customer service Ive had!...... --- Brothers?

Re: 55-57 one piece windows
I have a 1955 TF truck converted to one piece side glass. I used the Specialty Power Windows kit and the window run trim from Restoration Specialties part #10M-96-WIN. It requires 2 each. One for each side, these fit perfectly. They come in a long straight piece. You can pre shape them with the glass before it's installed.
The Specialty Power Windows kit comes with a template for the glass shape. The motors in the kit are fast and quiet running like my new Silverado. I have to still order the window felts that attach to the door openings horizontally. Additionally, the Specialty Power Windows kit comes with the forward channels that fit down in the doors, switches and decent instructions to complete a one piece window project and was what I needed as my truck had no existing windows or regulators (you will have to source the glass).
