yup, I know about not being able to turn. But the advantages are better than the disadvantages to me.

Re: Got a new truck

Well we got the donor motor out and in our garage. So now it is a matter of putting it in. I could do it myself but my dad said he wanted to get a new clutch pad, so I have to wait till he gets home sine he is at work now. But we will go wheeling tomorrow.

We are going to order the 18 in foa coilovers for the front this weekend so in a month it should be 4link front and rear.

Re: Got a new truck

Well we went in the other truck and did the stairway and some of the frame twister then I got stuck. Got pulled out and while we were waiting to go on a trail the lower radiator hose blew. That ended our day so we at home now.

Re: Got a new truck

Well today we got the clutch pad in and took the pressure plate off and found cracks. So we went to my dads work where the old motor is and took the flywheel and pressure plate off and saw that it is externally balanced, and looks to be from a 400 small block. So we have a few choices, go look at a carbed 02 motor, get bearings and take the heads from the this 350 and put them on our 383, or if we have to buy a flywheel might as well just get one for the 454 we have.

But this will be figured out. And we are getting 18in travel 2.5 coilovers w/ resvoirs from foa for the front they will be ordered this week.

Re: Got a new truck

I think I maybe have blown up the rear locker, because it looks like when I get stuck the tire on the other side is spining.

Re: Got a new truck

A pic of 3 of the 4 tires, the pic's make them seam not and wide as they really look. They have more than a 1/4 tread on each so they will work great.

The ones that are on the ruck. They are 15x12's I think, they are wider than 10in I know for a fact.

Re: Got a new truck

Well yesterday my dad went with his friend to get his blazer to sell it to another of my dad's friends. While the guy and me waited at the bottom of the hill. The blazer was mostly complete expctt motor, tranny/t-case, and drivelines. It was what I was going to get before this, but I glad it got used.
We had to leave the black truck out at the guys house and We picked it up today. So we couldn't go wheeling today but next weekend for sure.

Re: Got a new truck

Well we got the new tires on and had to cut the front fenders. We only have one spot where it rubs on the steering arm at full lock to the passenger side. We are starting to collect parts to build a full tube buggy. It will be based off fat or nasty girl but a 4 seater and we will start working on it this summer.

We are going wheeling tomorrow. So I will load more tomorrow.

And the front got welded up.

Re: Got a new truck

A part of the v
Well and a good long hard day of wheeling. Couldn't make the cement hill thing with ease so, I did the v and the truck was overheating. We let it cool then we went on the jungle trail where a line of jeeps were going thru 1 at a time.

My dad And I watched them for a while, then I needed to use the bathroom. We drove to camp then back to jungle and the line was gone. So I was driving it and then got behind a eb.
While waiting my water hose blew. I thought it was the end of the day but it just popped off. We needed water so a guy from the group of jeeps went to camp and got us water. Then I drove jungle and they said a truck was stuck a few turns in front of me. At this point the group in front of me pulled off the trail. I had driven up further than them and didn't want to backdown but I tried pulling out and couldn't I walked up to where the truck was stuck and they were working on getting it out. I thought I could go around thru a bpass. But, my steering was going out so I got right behind where the truck was stuck and waited.

After they got out the way they said they didn't think I could make it because it was like a bottomless pit in the v in the trail. I tried to go up the side to skip that part wasn't working out How I plan so I stood on it in g-low or 2nd made it. went further up and did a little hill climb trying to get back to camp. After about an hour of struggling with the steering to get off the trail we did.

And thats how our day went Just jungle trail. Will upload pics In a few minutes.
And where I couldn't get out.
Edit: the truck wasn't stuck in that postion, that was after it was unstuck and trying to turn around. HAd a broken front passenger side shaft

Re: Got a new truck

Everythings great, Accept the steering box has a leak, and the cooling isn't great it gets hot.
We have a electric fan which should be able to keep it cool, I don't think the fan in the normal spot is flowing enough air without the cover.

And I almost for the problem shifting because the frame flex. I think When we put the 4link up front. The added bracing of the shock mounts will Solve the problem.

Re: Got a new truck

I rinsed it yesterday, I need to get a scrubber, to get the rest off. It coated the driveway where I washed it. I swept it yesterday and again today, and its just a layer of clay that just sticks on the ground.

And not to banged up from the trail and my not so great driving.

Re: Got a new truck

Well the dana 70s have been taken apart and we are working on getting the brake parts, we will still be running the drum brakes. Because the parts will be cheaper instead of converting to disc then in a few months being put aside for the rockwells hopefully.
We have been also seeing about full hydro steering kits, which we will be getting soon.

And what we just got today after a two weeks and two days, the foa coilovers. They are not the best finish but I don't care and it doesn't matter if they are getting used, and working fine. And they are proven off-road and yet still about a hundred bucks cheaper than the 16" travel fox coilovers.

Re: Got a new truck

Well My dad and I have been thinking more about building a buggy. And at first a jeep based tennesse style buggy. low on big tires to fit in the garage, which is about 6'6". My truck doesn't fit as it sits now it will if we put enough weight on the rear.

Well to day I was thinking about a 4 seater 67-72 buggy low enough to get in the garage. After figuring out some numbers I think we will going that route and building it this summer.

Mean while on this we are still pricing out the full hydro kit, which we hope to order next week. And working on the fuel issue we can't figure out. We also need a new motor or figure the issue of the oil it is very thin and we put brand new 20-50 in it. So we have a few things to work out this week before we go.

Re: Got a new truck

Well I think the fuels issue is solved and the cooling issue might be resloved because the mud was built up on it and we hosed it off.
