Re: 66 SBFS street truck

Normal group of Diehards eh?

That exhaust does look slick as all get-out !!
A friend cautioned me about mounting the mufflers under the cab like that for sound resonance issues.
I am curious now to see how you like it.
Doing my exhaust is coming up fast on the list of gotta-get-done

Well I sent mine out to get done and it's ceramic coated.....So it's actually priced by the foot and by the muffler. My system was about 600 to coat....

Nice use of the word eh my friend....lol ...ya the normal group of diehards...
Well if you look up front you will notice I put a cross over tube up front . So about the mufflers under the floor thing here is how i look at that.
1) It's ceramic coated so that reduces radiant heat produced by 30%
2) I doubled up the sound deadner in advance on the floor
3) I placed underlay matting under the entire floor

Part of the choice to put the muffler where it is....was based on where i placed the two battery boxes on my frame rails. But right abouve the muffler on the floor there is the floor stiffner that has a big lip on it. If I find it's noisey there is enough room to put a shield in over it for both sound and heat.

I will let you know how that all works out but in theory it should all be good....lol

Yeah, I am really interested in how it performs.
I herculinered the interior of my cab, sound deadner, and floor matting all up under the carpet I put in too.
Thanks for the info, I am probably going to ask about this again later....

Re: 66 SBFS street truck

So on todays wut not to do in the shop....

I had the guy's looking at me like I was crazy ( not new ) today when we were working on trying to get a 4 wheel disc brake conversion to clear the wheels on a project. I just traced out my wheel pattern indicator a cut a few pieces on the band saw.....lol . I just set it up until the rim cleared the caliper and measure it and ordered the right wheel spacers. Redneck wheel spacers to say the least...lol

Re: 66 SBFS street truck

I have my one piece driveshaft ready to go back in....but I am waiting to get everything else in first. Now that i have a hoist I don't want to bang my head on it......lol . Anyhow the black yoke is rated at 600 Hp the smaller yoke is a factory replacement. I thought I would just show the difference because that black yoke is actually way bigger and heavy duty.

Re: 66 SBFS street truck

I been working my A$$ off In the shop during the day and pulling wrench on the hulk at night.....But there is good news, I have the complete fuel line in now and i finished running the brake lines about 20 mins ago....There isnt any brake fluid in the system yet . But with no fluid in the system there aren't any leaks either soooooo lmao. Tomorrow i plan on hanging everything a little bit nicer and maybe even get the brake pedal in ( I think thats important ) I am wondering at the moment if there is even a rod in the booster....Man so close so far....Ordered the shifter this afternoon and i hope to see that soon.

Re: 66 SBFS street truck

well.....tried out my new brake bleeder....got round one of the brakes bled. They aren't where they need to be yet but i think the system is good to go . Now its just the rod length and pumping the calipers and wheel cylinders a few times......i think...lol. I had a couple of Master cylinders that came with everything and I don't know what the bore size is so I am in hopes thats all going to be good.

Well the board has made it bit farther then the picture shows as of today but it's complicated for sure. Project X has more options and wires then anything we have ever done before. The hulk truck has a ton of wire in it yet we were able to use a aftermarket harness and fuse block. That Project X truck has twice the wires the hulk truck does....

Well Bomp I can tell you this about the exhaust...

It seems to keep the heat in better ...I notice it doesn't pass the heat up to the cab floor as bad ....it sounds bad a$$ but i dumped it out early and I went with 2.5". It does stay hotter longer...So if you run it for a while and then go to some work down by the exhaust it will get you longer then you think. ( got me twice and have the burns to prove it ) But it sure looks wicked and I am doing it again shortly on two builds.
