Sorry about your frustrations.. I wholly feel ya brother..
There are some good parts available for you to rebuild your originals... and it's not all that difficult..

Re: Project truck dream 65"

Here are a few pics of midpoint mounting of my rad and shroud. Its a tripple pass rad to provide maximum cooling.

Because of bigger horsepower and the fact there will be an air condenser and remote trans cooler up front,I felt this rad would be a good choice.

Now,I just found out that the rotating assembly I chose is made overseas.Im glad I dident commit to it.So now Im looking at another and just waiting for a reply from Howards products.
Im sure tired of finding overseas crap everywhere I turn, its a shame and making my build go much slower.I refuse to use engine components made anywhere outside of the US.I have to put alot of time and energy into making this happen and its slowly driving me nuts!

Excellent work on a fantastic build! If I ever get to a point where I can rebuild my truck I may have to "borrow" a couple of your ideas. :-)

Re: Project truck dream 65"

Well as It turns out, every crank (all top brand names) I looked at were made overseas, big disappointment.
So Im going to use a reworked GM 400 crank,GM X-rods as well and build the bottom end the old school way! That way I know my engine is not made in the same place that all the crap replacement body panels are !

Cheers,
Ed

What kind of a nut would paint his engine compartment white? Looks like something I would do. Your truck looks good Ed, keep building....

Re: Project truck dream 65"

You know...I looked at going green in and out.Two years to finally get the right shade of it...ok then .......,white it is !

I may be a little worse than a nut. After all every vehicle I have owned since 1984 has been...., well ..., white, why should I take a chance.

Re: Project truck dream 65"

I understand your problem, this truck was white last time I restored it in the early 80's, and I've had a white 57 belair for over 30 years. I just like white. The early Corvettes were all white. Sounds like we are cut from the same cloth.

Re: Project truck dream 65"

Well,Im getting some time here so Ill post my latest addition to the project.I was never to happy with the OEM hood release setup,so I did some research and found a sturdy and reliable system that will allow the hood compartment to be secure.

Now using a release that will activate from inside the cab thanks to the folks at Rocky hinge.I have posted some pics of the setup ,I simply utilzed the existing choke hole on the instrument bezel.

The hole had to be drilled to 1/2" to accept the new knob sleeve, the easiest was to drill from behind the dash.I included a pic of the locking collar that holds the knob sleeve tightly in place.

The bearclaw latch and striker will be replacing the old system. An independent spring loaded safety latch will be machined once all the fitment is finished.

I'd like to thank Dave MCcoy for allowing me to work off of his original design of this system.
