Got a good start on the front of the hood today. Had a sheet metal shop bend a piece up for me.

Not sure if the front center was pushed in a little bit or not and that when I patched the entire front I may have done it so that its still pushed in a little bit... and since the grille is tweeked as well, I really have nothing to go by until the new one gets here... so maybe Ill wait to see what it lines up like to a new grille before I go any further with the finish work... can any of you tell from the pic if it looks pushed in a wee bit?

Thanks guys I appreciated the kind words... That thing was starting to become a PITA to me...

My wife just let me know I now have 5 big poxes of parts sitting in the living room waiting on me to get home this weekend...

Gonna be getting started on the custom front roll pan next. I bought a front valance and lower front spoiler for a 69 Camaro along with a roll pan for the truck... Ill be using the areas for the fog lights off the Camaro valance and maybe some of the detail that will make the spoiler fit on the truck roll pan...

Also got the new grille and a shorter radiator that I should be able to work with to get that damn hood closed

Well so much for getting anything done... the most important ingredient in the custom roll pan has been sitting in Illinois for 4 days... the roll pan....

Apparently I WAS supposed to notch the bed bracket on the frame to get that sway bar mounted a little more forward after all....

Got the left bed side stripped (it will be taken off and done everywhere I can get later)

Good news is none of the bondo was covering rust at least but its gonna take some work to get straight. Ill get the other side stripped next week. It looks like it "might" be in better shape.

While surfing for ideas and parts I ran across these tubs I'm thinking of buying for the front.. and maybe the back too... made by the same guys that did the radiator filler I have with the same oval dimples... I think they would go nice together... very reasonable pricing too

Sweet no rust is much easier to work with. Tubs look cool.

Thinking ahead a little bit and doing some more surfing (I love the web) and came up with this perfect interior design for the build.... I Love Love Love the full door panels and the full dash cover... this is all made for the 67-72 c10s, but the cost is way out there. Gonna see about having it done locally vs buying the kit...

Now tell me that's not just the bee's knees...

Why yes... yes I do sir...
They're at Classic Industries and are pretty pricey so beware... I'll be building a center console so I will be looking to get it done to match. Those door panels and that dash cover/pad is just too cool... They offer several styles and different color stitching.

Thanks, yeah they are a little salty, though not bad considering my 48 truck seat was $800 to have redone and I did all the restoration on the seat frame. Save a ton of time to use these. Pretty sure Tre5 used them on one of his builds here.

Got to come home for the night and my front roll pan was here, so I went out and held it in place only to find that I have to cut a few inches off the frame horns to be able to use it?? WTH? No wonder the one that the PO had made for it looked so goofy.

Now Im not sure about this. Gonna have to think about it I guess...

Well today has been frustrating to say the least... After cutting the frame horns off this is how it went... This is a 2 piece roll pan. It was basically a long piece that was rolled to somewhat match the contour of the lower fenders and then cut in 2... the problem is that it does not follow the long lazy contour of the lower grille. When the 2 pieces are cut to come together at the center it comes to more of a point and I'm having trouble with figuring what to do..

Should I make the lower grille match the roll pan or do I try to make the roll pan match the contour of the grill?? If you look straight down and look at how the shape matches the shape of the front of the hood it says that I need to make the roll pan match the grill. But with a rolled piece of metal, how do you get it to have a radius opposing the rolled radius?

It really hard to see what I'm talking about in the pics I suppose...

Possm, I would make the roll pan fit the grill. Guessing it was two pieces joined at the center. Since it sticks forward there, can you split it again and take off enough material in the center so when you join them back together the center moves rearward? That should bring the edges of the roll pan and grill into alignment. Sneak up on the trimming so you don't remove too much and end up with the center too far rearward.

Hope that makes sense.

But how would I get it to follow the grill contour when its rolled? I would have to make several cuts to get the face to push back and not change the roll right?
I did this to show how the roll pan (black lines) is straight and the grille (red line) has a lazy curve to it... if that helps

Since the hood and the area of the grille that the trim goes on comes to more of a point I was thinking maybe I should make the grill at the bottom work with the roll pan... maybe... whats you thoughts?

Ah, sorry Possm, shame on me. I was focusing only on the distance the roll pan was sticking forward and not on the contour of the grill bottom. Getting the roll pan to match that contour would be pretty challenging.

You have a good point about the hood and upper grill coming to a point. Matching the grill to the roll pan would be simpler, plus match what is above it.
