Re: Mike's 50

Jim, I may get to that point this weekend, still hopeful.

I put gas in to calibrate my fuel level sensor for the dakota digital gauges. Still a little wiring to work on but close

Re: Mike's 50

Well this weekend didn't go as planned, hoped to get some fire in the this truck at least for a check.
Got to crank.... but no oil pressure. Installed manual pressure gauge and still nothing. not much cranking but quit.
Went down to hardware store and bought a pressure sprayer and hooked up to oil pressure sender fitting above oil filter, was able to read oil PSI from ECM and should 20psi. reconnected Dakota Digital sensor and cranked again, no PSI. ****...
Called it quits and will order some oil pan gasket, and pick up seal. Hope I can get oil pan off without pulling Engine. Might have pinched oil pump pickup o-ring when I changed over to Holly Oil Pan??? hope not and usually careful about that stuff.

Read, just fire and oil pressure is good while not able to get any while cranking. leaning towards pulling pan before going further.
Anyone had similar issue with crate motor?

Re: Mike's 50

I think I would try another mechanical oil pressure gauge at the port by the oil filter before I removed the pan

Re: Mike's 50

I used a reliable mechanical guage and a big fat 0. While pressurized with sprayer at fitting above oil filter reading ECM Psi it was 20psi. The cranked again and 0. Has to be O-Ring on pick up, or like a few on the net that said didnt have PSI till fired up.

Re: Mike's 50

Yesterday I ordered all parts for pulling pan and replacing pick up tube seals, etc.
So today I worked on cleaning up the wiring under the cab and at the electrical center. Not done but getting close.

Re: Mike's 50

Then this afternoon I said F*** It and fired it. It fired with just a tap of the key, and within a few seconds had 40psi oil pressure, only ran it for 1/2 minute. Sounded good!
Had a fuel leak at the fuel filter. YEAH!! will look into the leak tomorrow.
Here is a link hope it works

Re: Mike's 50

the LS3 fuel rail is returnless, depending on what you have used for a fuel pump and filter it sounds like maybe you are just hitting full pressure of the pump (80 psi) instead of what the returnless regulator at the filter sets it (60 psi).

I didnt read back through for what you used for a fuel pump and filter but thats just an observation.

Re: Mike's 50

Got some panel aligning done yesterday. Doors are tight and may have to change out the weatherstrip.
Need to adjust right fender to match hood alittle. But not bad overall. not looking for perfect gaps

Re: Mike's 50

Got the new rear bumper installed with Splash Apron still needs some adjustment. I may down the road use the splash pan as practice panel to make some patina patches around truck later on.

I also got the front wiring done covered and secured less one spot.

Re: Mike's 50

Thanks guys.
That was just open headers.
I, along with the girlfriend bled the brakes last night after work. She has been wanting to help, now hopefully she will be over that need.
It should now move under its own power, needed to get some more Trans fluid so quit last night. Also filled with coolant.
I'm pretty happy with the way the wiring has come out.
Now need to get to what I have been putting off and that is cleaning the bed sides and inner side of rear fenders for coating.

Re: Mike's 50

Well worked a bit today. Cleaned and put a primer coat of POR15 on bed sides in prep for Monstaliner.
Also installed my seat frame .

I also started and ran engine to get up to and maintain 190* coolant temp.
Seems to be running to high fuel pressure @80psi.

It moved and stopped under its own power and drove it in to the shop today. Only 40 ft or so. But it moved aprox. 40 ft on its own!

Car show in the area tomorrow so will hit that up.
Hope to get some bedliner on bed sides tomorrow also.
