Re: my 65 fleetside build

Re: my 65 fleetside build
flip the cab is coming along very nicely, i thought of doing the same with the seams, filling them in for a smooth look! i got a question for you too! are you using body filler over the epoxy or the other way around?? i've heard you can epoxy then use filler as long as its in the 7 day flush time! just wondering i'm thinking of buying a compressor this summer to paint my truck myself and to make some of this work go a lil faster!!

Re: my 65 fleetside build
Oh Yeah, Those gaps dont look bad at all. I think im going to take my bad one off first and see how mine looks. Bad thing is I just flipped my cab back over today to put seam sealer in and do final blocking of the roof and final paint on the bottom of the cab. Are you going to paint your cab before you put it back on the frame??

Re: my 65 fleetside build
Man that is looking fantastic!
Next month, the week of Valentines I am pulling a marathon in the garage. I am subletting my neighbors half of the garage, pulling that '85 Sierra in, and stripping it down. I mention this, because now I am going to look at the accelerator on it, and if it is a cable I will probably yank it too. That looks like a great idea on yours so of course I am going to have to see about copying it!!

I only have a 33gal Craftsman air compressor, and I am not sure if it is big enough to warrent the purchase of a spray gun. I am also thinking I have to order Slick Sand, I have not seen anything close to it in the autoparts shops around here. Or should I be calling paint stores like Sherwin Williams?

Re: my 65 fleetside build
Wow flips, Your cab looks great, You are flying on that thing, I see you having it ready for the charlotte auto fair show. lol. Did you mean you used a 2.5 tip in the spray gun. I have a gun with a 1.7 tip. That must be some thick stuff. I been using nason full fill sandable primer. Nice job, keep up the great work and keep the pics coming.

you can thin it down and it still works great, even thinned its thicker than most high build primers i have used(which isnt alot) just dont get it to thick or it will crack or so they tell me, alan would defintely know more about it than me. |
