Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
How do you do the "Digital Paint Booth"? Is this a program you have to purchase? I am starting on a '67 and I want to finish it in burgundy. Thanks

Yes you can purchase it for one vehicle from HOK then render away. Just to let you know the wheel choices are very slim, so you may not find the exact ones you are looking for. Other then that it is a quick and easy way to come up with ideas.

Very nice! Yes, this should make "quick" work of the floor repairs. I am leaning towards doing the same on my Camaro project. When I get to that point.

Thanks Mike, sounds like a good plan you have for the Camaro! I got the rest of my panels in today to fix the cab!

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
The should just sell all the parts in your picture as a kit . All the same panels I needed on mine too. The floor install wasn't too bad either. Had some alignment issues with the new floor at the firewall but that seems to be pretty common with the repops.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Yeah only a little bit of work Why do you think I was so jealous over the floor in your new truck. The good news is, the rest of the cab is rock solid, unlike my last one was.
Your right they probably should, kind of like how they sell the complete bed kits. Can you elaborate on the alignment issues with the floor at the firewall. I have read some threads on the install but every little bit of information helps.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Keith,
These are the few issues I had: Passenger side where the floor meets the firewall flange (Looks like the are using worn out dies) The curve of the new floor doesn't match the stock firewall curve on the drivers side where the pedal area is The rear matches up pretty good but I did have to bend my two rear supports up a little to get it to sit in the right spot. If you need anything more let me know. I am sure i have some more pictures and can always take more if needed.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
I got it from Jegs, it's a AMD branded Tri-Plus unit! Jegs had the best price on it, almost a $100 less than everywhere else!

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Eventually It's not something I'm worried about doing right now, I plan on getting the frame done first. Just collecting the repair panels so I have them when I need them. I'm trying to decide if I want to try and tackle this job myself or pay someone else to do it. So far I have received some pretty outrageous quotes. Anybody know a good body guy in NJ that doesn't want your first born as payment to repair my cab.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
I know right, would be a lot cheaper to invest in a good welder and do it myself.
Believe me, I would take it too him if I could. I have seen their work and its amazing. Problem is, they charge way more than I'm willing to spend to have a cab fixed.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
I purchased a Hobart 140 and a 250ci plasma from tractor supply. They had a zero percent financing program going on at the time. I took advantage of it and paid it off in a couple months.
It allowed me to learn on my own and I welded in all my own patch panels.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Thanks guys, I'm looking into Hobart's and Miller's! I want something that can also do some minor frame work too so I can weld my bag mounts on and fill some holes in the frame!

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside
Keith,
Just In case you were not aware, Hobart is made by Miller. Hobart is just the less expensive line and when you go buy replacement parts they will have a miller part number. I have the Hobart 190 and have zero complaints. It has a good duty cycle for the home welder and is very user friendly if your a beginning welder. Mike
