Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Here is a shot of the filter. I will probably get a braided stainless hose between the filter and pump. Post 246 shows the filter and the fuel pump.

I don't know the NAPA part numbers but they come in lengths from 12" to 72" in about one foot increments. Looking at the photo I need to go out and make sure I put a nut on that bottom bracket bolt!

update: here is a link to the tubing on NAPA's online catalog. The last two numbers in the part number is the length in inches.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Nice work on the pod. What's the thickness of the plywood you're using, I tried to make my base for the kickpods using FG but it didn't trun out so good and I thrashed it, so now I'm going to use 3/16" ply if that's available. Do tell what the hole is for?

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

I am using 3/8" plywood and will ease the edge parallel to the door. Upper hole is for ac outlet. I do not like the underdash holders. I have been collecting interior photos off the web and saw one with the ac outlets on the side. I ran the 2.5" hose and routes ok and keeps the under dash clear. I am going to put a raised bowtie in the space between the ac and speaker pod. First time doing this, kind of like body work put in on, sand it off, repeat until smooth!

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Photos of the speaker kick panels. One with bondo used to smooth out the fiberglass (short story tried to use matt instead of cloth, did not work), primed and installed. They will be covered with fake leather to match the seats so they are not perfect. Also worked on the glove box lid, started thinking about the speaker/gun rack/ behind the seat enclosure too.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Very good idea of wanting to run the AC duct through the pod, how did you route the AC duct? From the bottom? I was also thinking of adding some type of lights to come on when the doors are open.
What's that square hole for?

The duct routes from the top in the dash, there is an existing opening from the dash into the space between the kick panel location and outside of the cab tight against the door pillar. I have thought about lights too in a bowtie pattern, tied to the new door switchs I am adding. The square hole is the stock fresh air intake, air is routed from the grille in front of the windshield, down the passenger side, into the heater box. I had it blanked off, aftermarket ac does not use it. I pulled the plate so I can see how to route the ac and heater hoses for the VA setup I have. I finally figured out that the PO of the system had it ran through tire side of the fender. Current VA setups have hard lines that do a 180 and exit out towards the center of the firewall.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Located the VA set up and decided on hose routing. Goal is to keep them as high and close to kick panel as possible. The heater hoses will run in the engine compartment, AC will run on the wheel side of inner fender panel up high to the radiator support then condenser. The pics show the VA hose locations for compariaon, I did not like them right where passengers could be kicking them.

Has anyone here used the Aeroquip EZ connection system for the AC hoses?

No problem, I probably got the idea from some one else on line. For more ideas go to fiberglassforums.com, I just found them yesterday.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

I used to spend a lot of time over at Chevelles.com until I started working on the truck in 07. I keep my gold membership active over there. I also lived and went to school in Tempe at ASU from 74-78.

Work on the truck this weekend was getting the elevator bolts welded in to support the ac unit and pulling the new trans pan to retap and replace the drain bolt I cannot get to stop weeping. Tonight we will see if the fix works. Good news is I landed a side job that is going to buy be some new paint guns and paint I need to get the cab interior and firewall done and the cab mounted. Should also have enough $ to set some seals, etc. Might also get the single piece door glass cut.

I noticed that but it wasn't an original idea. I got it from a pic I found online while looking for ac install info.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics

Bump so I can be on top. Last weekend I got the leaky trans pan fixed and installed and the converter cover. Sounds easy but remember I left in the stock second crossmember so converter cover was built in two pieces. Supposed to be nice this weekend so yard sale to get rid of old parts for $ to continue. I feel more body work coming on Sunday.
