Re: My 52 GMC Build
Thanks Johnny. I always like finding other local old truck enthusiasts. I'll be checking out our build.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So I'm still plugging away at the trany hump. Wow the panels take forever with the compound angles. I have resorted to using box board and then transfer to the steel. Not any faster but works better.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Thanks AD. I'm using an air shear and the edge of my work bench with a dead blow hammer. No shear or brake in my arsenal.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Nice work there! Sounds like my kind of brake. I've used 2x4's and clamped sheet metal in between them and then broke the material over. A brake would sure make it easier though. Haha

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well this morning I drove to the other side of Toronto (stupid traffic) to pick up my Lizard skin sound and temp coatings. 320km round trip. 200mile. I'm going to spray Floor, fire wall, cowl, roof and behind the seats. The reviews on this stuff are great so we will see.

Glad it helped Johnny
Finished the trans hump today bit of sanding and drill some holes in the firewall. Weld up the battery cover. Then I think the cab is done being welded on.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
thats one of the best uses of a "big truck" frontend I have seen. most guys would have just found the 1/2 ton stuff. I like that you made your own bed box too, I cruise the local ads every day and buy about every half ton bed I see, coulda just made one!

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Yes me and my boys are going there. I'll take the truck to it next year tho. I want it to go under its own power. Put it in the limbo contest LOL. I've never been to a low rider show.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Just a question to you all. I have read and heard of quite a few ppl converting a GMC truck to Chevy. What is the reason? Was GMC not the higher model with more features bigger motor stronger frames and chevy the striped down cheaper truck? I'm not meaning to offend anyone by this, both trucks are great. Just curious as to why the switch.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
My guess is the owner or builder likes the look of the Chevy better. Or a lack of good GMC parts availability to the builder would cause the switch. Me, I like the looks of both and would be happy with either. I have a ton of AD Chevy front end parts and no GMC , likely due to production volume differences. There are more Chevy's around.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
yah I'd say just less GMC's around. I'v come across some and have some parts for them. But you definitely see more chevy's. When you search for parts on CL or ebay, most always search under chevy. GMC is just a more specific deal all and all. Me personally I luv seeing GMC's. I think they are very cool. But some guys prolly don't like them as much as chevy. Kinda like a 54-55 vs a 47-53 truck, some guys luv the one piece windshield, some guys don't.
