Finishing up with the jambs. Today is a pretty good day. My 5th grandchild was born too!

Are you planning to run the OE fender flares on the rear? I see the holes in the front but not on the bed.

Re: 97 3500 454 4x4 project
Yes, I found a set off a 99 suburban that looked like it had never been off the hwy. They're silver, but Derrick is painting them black for me. I'll have to drill holes in the bed, it came without them.

Looks a lot better with the bed back on. Still a little more buffing and painting the flares black.

Re: 97 3500 454 4x4 project
Finally got her home today. I'm helping my father-in-law put a new floor in his shed, but if I don't get called in to work I'll start working on this again.
The grill and flares are in the cab, probably do those first.

Re: 97 3500 454 4x4 project
I've got a little done to it, but I'll have most of the day today. What little time I had yesterday I was able to get the cab lights and cargo lights on with led lights, first time they've worked in years I bet, plus the grill and started on the flares.

Re: 97 3500 454 4x4 project
Dosen't show a lot, but I did get the bars on, finished cleaning the seals and got those back on. Put the outside door handles on and that locking link was a chore! Taped up the plastic on the inside of the doors again, just need to double check on the speaker wires in the back before I put the panels on. Anyone know if I have to hook those wires up anywhere? I hooked the speakers up on one side, but didn't get any sound so something is amiss.
The tow mirrors are on though I have to wire them up before the front panels go back. At least it's coming together.

Re: 97 3500 454 4x4 project
I've got the back door panels on and spent a good part of yesterday working on the speakers in them. I went and checked 88gmc's thread after having no sound and saw the doors are wired, but dead end in the pillar. So, I pulled the pillar panels back off and spliced into the rear speaker wires, which ran along the bottom of the pillar under the carpet to the rear. I ran wires for the right side under the carpet to splice on that side to keep from having to pull the rear panel off from that side.

Amazing how a couple of small things can take so long, especially when its your truck. Pulling wires thru can be so tedious but rewarding. Looks great.

Re: 97 3500 454 4x4 project
A guy I work with is going to scrap out his 96 that was in an accident and told me I could have what I wanted before he hauled it off. I got a few things just in case, it was picked over pretty good though.
I've been busy, seems like everyone wants to take vacation in the summer, but I've got a few days now that I can finally work on the truck again. I do have the flares bolted on, had to take the wheelwells off to do it, but running the camera cable to the back should be much easier now.
