Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!
My drivers door is hard to close on my 66. Read the entire thread and decided to buy new Honda seals. I think my old (new) ones were Precision. I found no change and ended up reinstalling my old ones.

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!
I went with the auto wrecker and I think it was like $4 or something on a 1/2 price day. Plenty fine for my junker and a lot better than the bought foam stuff that I threw in the trash. I don't think they made custom door seals for our trucks at that time.

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!
I bought used passenger-side Civic ones from the junkyard for my '61, cut off the "corner" and added an extention section under the sill plate. I did look at a lot of other seals while I was at the wreckers, but the Civic ones are quite thin, which is what makes them work.
The doors close MUCH better than with the Precision seals I had bought, but I don't like the rubber edging of the Honda seals. I'm going to try and slice off the outer inner "grip" of the Precision seals to help them lay closer to the door flange and see if that helps.

Couple spots that were really tight in the Precision seal I sliced the backside of the O part of the seal so it lays flatter. If that makes sense?? |

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!
I have had to slam my doors with the Precision seals. Bought and tried the Honda seals with no real change. Luckily they took them back. My success came with bending the door flanges and adjusting door/fender a bit. Just my experience.

I also re-installed the precision brand seals, which were also tight. Long story short, after 5 months in hibernation over the winter, when I brought the car out of storage, the doors closed much better. I guess that the precision seals relaxed. |

Re: 64-66 door weatherstrip-EUREKA!!!!
Something I've noticed with trucks that have aftermarket rockers- the lip that holds the seal is too far out which makes any seal too tight against the door. It's something to check if your doors are hard to close and has had the rockers replaced.
