yeah....The tanks are a little rusty, and I think I can cut up the cups & the mounts to use then for my rear bag mounts.

Re: My 86 build

I went through your whole thread yesterday really like what you have been doing to the truck. I really like where you put the gas cap. I might be copying you on that one, since i have the 76 with the cap on the bed and no door. Truck is looking sharp keep it up.

hey thanks man! ....you can copy that if you want. pretty easy to do. the hole should have been a couple more inches towards the back... I screwed up when I cut the hole out, and the filler isn't quite centered in the hole, plus I moved the box closer to the cab to close up the huge gap in between them. but it still works ok, and once I'm done my 4-link I'll be putting in a blazer tank in the back...

Re: My 86 build

I was planning on using some of these for my 4-link mounts, but after seeing them, they're not going to work. they're not quite long enough and should be1/4"thick. I need some for shock mounts anyway, so now I have extra...

Re: My 86 build

I had planned on taking the box off my truck today and removing the bed floor, but since my buddy had borrowed my welder, I had no way of making a frame to hold the box sides on..so instead I removed all of the seam sealer out of the joints, and loosened most of the bolts so it'll be ready to come out next weekend...I also removed the stake pockets with a cold chisel, and I also took a few pics of this highly productive day....

Re: My 86 build

so today I started working on my bed trying to remove the floor, lifted the bed off with the cherry picker, set it on saw horse's and removed several hundred bolts...got it all apart and set back on and made up some temporary mounts to hold the sides on. I didn't have enough steel kickin around so I'll have to buy some more square tube to make a better frame, and it still needs a little tweakin here and there, but it's back on at least...

Re: My 86 build

nice man!!
there is a crazy-stupid amount of bolts holding these together!
did you have any of the backer nuts break loose and spin?
that is usually my problem, but since I got my welder, it ain't that big of a problem anymore
