Re: Jesses' 48 PU
2x2 pieces welded to the frame. Now the bumper bracket can easily slide in and out by removing the bolts and sliding it out.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I wasn't sure how far I would set the bumper so I left this section a bit long so I could trim once I decided where the bumper would live.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I took a piece of 2" flat bar 1/4" thick rolled it to match the shape of the bumper, drilled holes so I could attach it to the back of the bumper and use it to weld the 1 1/2" frame. This way the bumper can be removed or replaced.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Decided to set the bumper at 2 1/4" (ends) off the fenders, trimmed and finished welding the bumper bracket.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Took the front clip off, finished welding the inner fenders, cleaned them up some and getting them ready for primer.
My wife took a ninja shot of me....

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Due to the Coronavirus my employer grounded us and cancelled all of our travel. So I decided to take the week off and work on the truck. I sandblasted the inner fenders and several pieces from the front clip.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
If you have a compressor why not get a gravity help gun and spray bodyshop grade epoxy and high build etc. It would be cheaper and a better coverage than the spray bomb stuff. Especially when you start the high build. Easier to get a nice flow so less orange peel texture.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I have a little blaster like that. works great. sure fills the coveralls pockets up quick though. haha.
curious what that black diamond media is and how it performs compared to sand. I use sand, works ok. thought maybe there is something better. does the black diamond leave a big profile? |

The black diamond is a resin based product with a little bit of glass... I've never used sand as this stuff is cheaper ($5.00 a bag) and there is very little dust. I normally put a tarp or use it in a area where I can sweep it up, except this time. I'm sure it will kill my grass. Not sure what you mean by profile, but it cleans pretty well, doesn't heat up the metal as sand does...
