Re: Finally my own build thread!
Chrome!!! It will be powdercoated when i am done with it but that might be a little bit. Now comes the hard work. Thin sheetmetal. Me and thin sheetmetal don't get along very well but it will be okay. At least that is what i am telling myself. After i mock up all the sheetmetal and double check that everything is centered I am taking the plasma cutter and completely removing the factory cab floor and building a custom one. I still have to make motor mounts and tranny mount but i already have that figured out so that should only take a day or two. My goal is to have all the sheetmetal, motor and trans which is a LS1 and 4l60e so when i go to Hot August Nights car show i can show what the truck is going to look like. I already paid the $150 to be in the show so why not, right! After i get the sheetmetal mocked up and the motor and trans installed then i am going to start the exhaust. I am hoping to have the exhaust come out the side of the bed right before the rear tire. After seeing Nathans rendering of his project truck i can't stop thinking about it.
Thanks for the complements guys! I have a tremendous amount of hours in this thing and it is nice to hear that other people like it as well. Josh

Re: Finally my own build thread!
Well i got the jig and frame back into the garage today. I also got the cab and bed on the frame. That was alot of work. I made supports to hold the bed level and square on the frame jig. Tomorrow i am hoping to start making the false bed floor or at least the supports for the bed floor. Just trying to figure out how i want to do the wood in the bed floor. The cantilever suspension is pretty wide. I actually think the rocker arms will protrude into the fenderswells. I imagine that i will just make a clean cut in the fenderwells or something along those lines. After i get the bed fastened on the frame i will take some more pics.

Re: Finally my own build thread!
Your talking about my other frame i built, right? I still have it. I just wanted that frame and build to be the nicest i could possibly do and dream. That takes alot of money for parts. After i finish this project i will then jump on that one.

Re: Finally my own build thread!
Well i got most of the bed floor done. I still need to make the brackets that connect the bed floor to the frame but I have those figured out and a few other things. I made some bed supports to hold the bed up and then i shimmed it to be level. Then i grabed some scrap steel i had and made an X to keep the bed square as i built the floor. I am also making a sheetmetal blank so when you open the tailgate you will see a painted piece of metal instead of a gap. I think that makes sence. Anyways what do you guys think? The rectangle that surround the shockwaves is going to be left open. This is my first time build a raised bed floor. There will be 6 bed mounts that bolt to the frame and I am thinking about using curley maple wood for the wood planks. Any comments would be much appreciated. Thanks
Josh For fun i included a pic showing the ride height. A red bull can doesn't even fit below the pinch weld on the rockers. Almost though. LOL.
