Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Thanks,
The lift went from about a 10 inch lift down to 6 inches,no kidding. It looks good with a 6" rear and 4" front lift so I left it.I could remove the helper spring though,I wont need them. Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 03-09-2007 at 10:53 PM. |

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
I might also get the other cab on so I can see how the truck looks with 35s.I might end up with it all together less the drivetrain.....even though it will all come back off

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
I love the stance, would rather see a different grille though (69/70?) I ditch the roll bar (to Fall Guy'ish) my 2 cents! Like the black as well...
I picked up another rear again today (check my junkyard post)...my fear of installing my own gears is making me hoard them! But I found a POSI this time! Hopefully i'm only two months behind you...

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
The only reason the rollbar is still in is because I use it to pick the bed up with.I have a 69-70 grill, but the 71 grill was in closer reach to put in...Tomorrow lights, bumpers, and all the goodies are going in so I can see it fully together. As for the POSI,if you have it,put it in,gears arent that hard.If you want POSI it will persuade you to put it in

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
wondering if I should keep the gears in the 2WD axle (move shock mounts, leaf perches) or swap all the guts..... Both are 6 lug and in average shape...

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Well,I would just swap gears, rather than weld perches, ect. And I know how you said your welding was....

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
I have a buddy that would do the welding... I would rather not have the 2WD axle under it though (panhard bar mount on the pumpkin).

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
I really dont like the looks of the stock height 4x4s.(no offense Mike & others). They atleast need a small lift for me to like them.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Well, the truck didnt have a correct bed.It was the 73+ style shortstep...So I passed on that deal.I could have pointed out to the owner 7 reasons I knew the truck wasnt original but I didnt want to be a @ss and kept the info to myself...Although,he should know there was never any original 3/4 shortbed 4x4s or any 3/4 ton shortbeds for that matter.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Im sure there is more shortbed 4x4s out there but I am going to be sure to park mine in the garage for now on
Oh and thanks.I am actually thinking of going 6" lift all around instead of 4" front/6" rear.I have some extra 6" lift front springs, they might end up going on the front. Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 03-15-2007 at 09:52 PM. |

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"
Well,I have people
I do have friends who all have old trucks and I get info on trucks all the time.I keep a good eye out for them too sitting in fields. The 68 looks from the one pic I have to have potential.I plan on using it as just a work truck though.... |
