Re: My 76
Alrighty now, here is some progress pics for ya'll.
I started the body work on the driver's side door. I used short hair fiberglass filler first, then sand, then coated it with light weight bondo. I am also working on the bed, cut out the rust and got one patch panel done. Yes I welded it in before fiberglassin. Then first layer agian with short hair fiber glass filler. Now I am working on the other side. And yes, both sides were covered with bondo to hide the rust. Thats it for now, hoping to have this done today body work and all.

Re: My 76
Rockers arent to terrible I always shut the door on the new rocker tac it in place then you can open the door knowing your gap is alright and weld away.

Re: My 76
Been getting some work done. I got the passenger side rust area all sanded out.
I also got the driver side started and almost finished. And I also brought another gallon of primer. And today, my dad and me went to pick this up.

We got it at the tool shed for $440 before taxes and it was like $478 total.

Re: My 76
Woah. Too rich for my blood.
I have been doing all my work at a buddy's shop with a 60 gallon tank, dual moisture traps, and everything, but I want to bring my part's/practice truck home and work on it so I've been shopping for my own air compressor that can sustain a sand blaster, cutting wheel, or dual-action sander. How small can I go?

Re: My 76
You need at least 10 CFM at 90 PSI to run the tools you want. Try shoping on ebay or something.

Re: My 76
Tank size?
p.s. Sorry to jack your thread GMC91! But thanks a million for the advice. I have to admit, I was pretty jealous to read your thread and see the abilities you have at such a young age to just dive into this project. Keep up the good work and keep updating us old farts so we can learn from you! :-)

Re: My 76
Thanks, that put a smile on my face today. As for tank size Ive used a 30 gallon on my first truck. Didnt do very well, had to keep stopping to let the tank build back up. But for the past 5 years Ive used a 50 gallon, and it was great. Just had to let it cool down sometimes. And now Im using a 60 gallon, 5 horse compressor and it just beats everything Ive used.

Re: My 76
I want to get the simplest, siphon sand blaster.
I am going to be more practicing on sheet metal to begin with before I work on anything which will go on my finished truck. I will be working on small parts, so do you think that simple siphon feed with this air compressor will let me get the job done? Siphon Sandblaster Gun: (link)

Re: My 76
That should work, you might have to let it catch up every now and then. But it should work.
