Re: 68' Chevy c10
final smoothing, ready for primer.
Someone else may have had this idea, I put my putty spreaders in lacquer thinner for easy clean up. the lid would pop of from pressure, and the thinner would evaporate. so my hillbilly idea was to use a rattle can spray head for press. relief. works great !

Re: 68' Chevy c10
The antenna is gone
the grill emblem was in bad shape. so I ground, filled, and smoothed. applied copper leaf. still a few places to touch-up.then tone it down with transparent black. the groove on the face will be black with the correct red center.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
I think leafing can add a lot of detail to a piece.... my question is are you planning on painting the center of the badge? I usually leave the leaf to the last thing keeps things cleaner.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
I will be painting the center and the groove around it, but since I'm covering the copper leaf with transparent black I thought it would be better to do the paint last. that way I don't have to do tape outs with clear. I hope that makes since.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Leafing, I thought was mostly used in signs or lettering, also custom graphics. You can put it on just about anything. I found some videos on youtube because I've never used it before. Search silver leafing, or gold, copper etc. It comes in most metals.
Here's some pics pinstriped and transparent black. next will be the red center then clear, sand smooth and polish. this shot is just overhead light no flash.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
After looking at your interior photos, it looks like they also changed from '67 to '68 the spacing on the roof skin detail as well as going from the small window to the the big window. Keep up the good work!
