Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

Chevette, Daze57, mknittle, oldman3, Thank you. Yes, it works well because hole sawing is always a pain. I always like little tricks to make things easier.

99 to Life, Thank you. I will take a picture of the buckets I made. As for the light I will tack a screw in it and the will be a lock nut on the inside of the fender. So it can be removed for changing the bulbs.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

99 to Life, here are the light buckets. It starts with 3.5 tubing and then gets a cap welded to the end. The outside holes are the mounting holes and the center hole is where the bulb wires come out. I tack it in the hole and square everything up and mark it with a sharpie marker then break the tack and use my trusty slitter wheel on the 4.5 inch grinder to cut it to the profile of the fender.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

I finished up the tail lights this weekend. So now I have a bunch of little things I am working on now. I finished the edges on the splash aprons and the radius on the running boards. So they are finished now also. Next is the inside filler piece on the roll pan to the raised bed floor. So keeping with the paneled theme I will panel it too. But that will be this week. I only did a small sample so I could see if my bend and step was right.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

Larry Lindley, Thank you. I do like my special golden hammer. Haha

I had off today so I worked in the garage for 5 hrs. I now have the drivers running board and splash apron all finished up and the filler piece for the roll pan. I used it to fill in because of the raised bed floor. So it is done also. I am moving front now . So next will be a few spots around the wind shield and then onto the inner wheel wells. I also have a picture of the pickup and the panel together. I am going to a car show tonight.

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

I know you mentioned blind spots while driving the panel, daaaaaannnggg I feel you. How about some trucker mirrors. I actually like them and they would help you out. Wish I had a power bead roller too. Great work

Re: 1948 Chevy / S10

Daze57, Thank you

oldman3, Thank you, I thought it looked neat face to face.

mknittle, Thank you. The bad thing is I think I need to build a 36" deep bead roller. So I think I am going to have to do a rebuild. Powering was a great addition though.

99 to Life, Thank you. Yes it is the moving blind spot. I do have other mirrors but have not had the time to put them on. They are really nice, they have LED turn signals in the front of them. I do not like the way they mount so I will do it another way.

I started on the inner wheel wells today. I first started with some 2" strips and bent them so I could make a buck for them when rolling them and checking for the clearances. I used my stretcher/shrinker to make my radiuses. Then tacked them together when I was happy. Then used poster board for my sheet metal lay out. I cut it all out then did my bead rolling. I had the swap my dies top to bottom because I could not get the part through the throat of the bead roller. I need to make a bigger one! Then rolled it on the slip roller. It fits great. I need to finish the front and the back where it bolts the the rear upper part of the fender because it angles back. I use the stretcher to get it to fit the fender. I am going to make the panel a set hopefully soon also.
