Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
This is me with my 65. Purchased about three years ago site unseen from a retired Chevy dealer in Michigan. After many pictures and communication sent, I was convinced as he said that there was little to no rust. My brother and I met him half way at Elizabeth Town, KY and hooked the trailer to his truck and hauled it home. It has been a labor of love and alot of fun. One of the last things that I am working on is filling out the fender wells with 15x8 rallys. The gentlemens story about the truck is almost as good as the little old lady that drove it to church only on Sundays. The previous owner stated that it had only been driven 1200 miles in the last 32 years. I was skeptical until I saw the truck and the entire under carriage was covered with spider webs. Hard to believe a truck could be in this good of condition from a state with heavy salt usage. Check out my reproduced power brake pedal pad installed in the picture of truck. Thanks for all the valuable help in this truck build.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Well been on the board a good many years now, about 13, but newish to the 60-66 area. The 64 I got from another board & local truck club member. It's one as a club we helped do a few things on. I really like the looks of the 60-66 SWB Fleet lowered, but only model truck I do.
I am still piddling with it and some day will repaint it, but for now I want to drive it as much as possible. It's a 350, with a 3peed manual on floor and ECE 4.5/6 dropped suspension kit.

My name is Duane and here is Ginger my 64 C10. Been on this forum since September last year when I picked this truck up from the Long Beach Rod Run here in Washington. Drove her around for about a month then put her on jack stands and started updating all the suspension. The previous owner just cut and or heated the springs. So she is getting a all new static drop Porterbuilt suspension and Wilwood disk brakes on all four corners. Power steering upgrade and new frame mounted tank.
Love this forum! What a great bunch of people. I have been on many forums for previous vehicles I have owned and none nicer that this.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hello I have followed the forum for sometime now. This is my 4th 1966 Chevy truck and actually my second time owning this truck. The first two I had where built into one good one as a father son project with me and my dad my Sr year. Like a fool it was sold. A few years later I bought another with hopes for he and I to do it again wasn't able to so it was sold. I bought the one I currently have now the first time for me and my sons to build. Lack of money and a shop along with needing money to see my oldest graduate Marine boot camp forced me to sell it. I lost my father unexpectedly in January. The week after his funeral the guy that I sold it to with his promise to offer back to me if ever sold called me up and she is home again. Here are a few pics of my father son project with my dad and a pic of the project I plan to build with my boys.

Welcome to the forum! Very nice truck! I hope you and your Dad had many wonderful memories of working on your truck. I think it is cool that you had a girl that will go to the prom with you in your truck. You Rock Dude Mike. I hope your sons will enjoy working with you like you did with your father!

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hello. My name is Justina. MY boyfriend and I are working on a 1961 Chevrolet Apache 20. Longbox, side step.
We are the 4th owners - originally on an avocado farm in California. Luckily for us, all the previous owner kept all the paperwork and pictures of things that were done. When we bought it, it even came with a bunch of things that the previous owner bought for it, but never got around to doing. Also, fortunately for us, it ran. Now that our garage is finished, we are making changes to the truck. We are putting a lowering kit in, disc brakes, power steering. It's likely we will be changing it to automatic as well. I am sure I will be on here frequently, asking a million and one questions. First issue we are having is where to mount the power steering pump. Any suggestions? |

I've been told it is a 307 V8. Until I can get to the serial number on it, that's all I have.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hello to everyone. Just purchased a 1962 step side with factory bbw. The plan is to make it a daily driver. Currently has a 235 with dual carbs/dual exhaust. Looking to drop in a 350 with auto trans and change the rear end gears. Already found lots of great info on the site that's helped with planning. Also very little rust. Truck was built in Los Angeles and I'm guess it's spent it's life here in Cal. I'll attach some pictures when I figure it out!
